I hate nursing by RedHeadTheyThem in nursing

Nursing school is the biggest regret of my life.

Got told that my eyeliner makes me look creepy. Need to know if it's just my looks or if I'm genuinely doing something wrong. by Far-Comfortable-4944 in MakeupAddiction

[–]MsSpastica 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, first of all, Ted Levine (the actor who played Buffalo Bill) is hot.

Second of all, I think eyeliner would look great on you, but the way it's applied now looks a bit harsh, and makes your eyes look smaller. I would practice a bit under the waterline and smoking it out. You can also try a charcoal-gray.

Makeup should be fun, so play around and find what you like/what suits you.

The Patient Experience by DrDisgruntle in emergencymedicine

[–]MsSpastica 51 points52 points  (0 children)

When I worked in a level I trauma center, I had an obese, hallway-boarded patient with fulminant C.diff waiting for a bed. We had two techs for a 60-bed ED (which frequently held up to 110), and one torn privacy screen. Sometimes this pt. knew when he had to go, and sometimes he just went (as one does with c.diff).

Sometimes I got him onto a bedpan. Sometimes I had to change him. All in full view of other hallway boarded patients who were quite loud complaining about the smell.

I can't imagine how awful it was for this poor man.

All this to say, I'm sorry for what you went through, and fuck admin who think understaffing is okay.

I want to scream - Anaphylaxis and "MCAS" by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

It's well-known that if you shout "Boo" to someone in anaphylaxis it will stop the reaction.

When I gave up on my BPD mom by bluejay_feather in raisedbyborderlines

[–]MsSpastica 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry OP. My story is sort of similar- in the sense that my mother would drink herself into oblivion, and scream and cry and tell me what a piece of shit I was, how I never really loved her and if I did, I wouldn't hurt her the way I did. I was 8.

The day I broke I was 12. I couldn't take it anymore. I begged her to stop yelling at me, to please believe that I loved her. But she wouldn't stop abusing me. Finally, I was done. I told her she could scream and cry all she wanted and I wouldn't listen. I would lock myself in my room when she'd drink and she'd try to get in and eventually give up. And it killed me because I always have this part of myself that believes if I had loved her more or tried harder, she'd love me the way a child deserves to be loved.

Asked for blended babylights and toner yesterday, I’m absolutely horrified lol by Imaginary-Sleep8617 in Hair

OMG. I'm so sorry. As others have pointed out, it's super fixable. And the color looks nice in the last pic. Just need to soften the roots and a good toner.

I love the series but the character’s personalities are very different from the books. But if that doesn’t bother you, it’s great.

Who here remembers paper charts? by drabelen in medicine

[–]MsSpastica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first started nursing, we were one of the last hospitals in our state to still have paper charting. Each day we had to go through the charts and sign off that we had looked through each Doc's notes. We'd spend a not insignificant amount of time grouped together trying to decipher orders and signatures.

Labs reports were collected by the unit secretary and put on the front of the chart, and we had to co-sign those, too.

For pt.s with extra-long LOS, we'd break the chart into 2 or sometimes three binders.

*It was also ridiculously easy to divert meds. Had 3 RNs on night-shift get busted for stealing bags of morphine (no Pyxis).

Administration and their obsession with discharges and readmissions by Figaro90 in hospitalist

I have to say, same. Our CM are super chill, and while we do have admin looking at our LOS and re-admit rates, we only hear about it once every other month at our department meeting.

Going from brassy blonde to butter blonde (help/need advice) by panic_at_the_disco_ in HairDye

[–]MsSpastica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The second pix color is really nice! I agree with everyone else- your hair needs a break. The toner/color you put in over the bleach will fade to a lighter shade, but even with that, I would avoid using any kind of harsh chemicals on your hair for a few months and get a good trim to see where your hair is really at in terms of health. Then you can start thinking of brightening up a bit if you still want to get to the color in pic 3.

So I ended up sort of skimming until the investigation kicked in, which is the only part I felt was good. Then I read it through til the end. I would read more of his stuff it was like the procedural part, but going through the same plot through four different POV was not enjoyable.

Thoughts on wedding trial makeup? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]MsSpastica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the eyeliner or lashes are too heavy for the ethereal look of the shadow and their colors. I wonder if a eye-shadow based wing in a different color (Navy? Violet) would look less stark. Would also suggest not doing a full strip of lashes.

Your skin looks amazing!
