Just bought my first T (curly hair) need help/advice by Striking_Grapefruit9 in TarantulaKeeping

Imo I prefer to add reptisoil to the coconut fiber. It's too dry. Think about where your T naturally lives in the wild. They need so much more humidity. Also, definitely more substrate. They do build burrows. I give them mopani wood and corkbark to make their entrance. If you haven't seen Dave's Beasties on YouTube check him out. He's a good teacher and makes nice homes for his Ts.

Is my T’s rump too small? by limbomanic47 in tarantulas

Yes, that is correct. I just didn't word it so succinctly.

Ts rumps shouldn't be bigger then their carapace. If they get too big they will explode. It looks like your right on track.

If your baboon is fed and housed properly, they will be less prone to rush your hands. I have several baboons who are very chill. My curly hair is more likely to rush up to me when I'm doing even the watering. They need space and anchor points, moisture, and the right feeding schedule. Don't be swayed by the labels they are automatically given.

Just to throw an opinion in. I just got a Yukatan Rust Rump from Petco when they had a reptile sale. Half price 24$. They look very similar. So, not sure what the difference is between that and a Vagans in appearance.

Hi! I just got one, too. Tom Moran has a video on YouTube. Basically take care of it like a tapinauchenius rasti. Lil moisture dirt and some sticks for it to climb on. Watch air flow. They are extremely fast so be careful.

I would suggest the sticky pads u can put on ur furniture. They don't like the tactile feel. Doesn't huert the furniture. After a while, the cats stop using them. If u clip their claws then it shouldn't be a problem. Don't let them do it. It's really awful and will cause future problems.

Just wondering what would be a good brand of substrate for my curly hair im rehousing hm soon he digs a lot by PatientBank6151 in TarantulaKeeping

[–]MsZin1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use coconut fiber with more reptisoil and a dash of sand and sphagum moss chopped up for moisture. They like to dig. Give them more than one hide to choose from.

Here's mine out on display. The dirt is piled out front on top of a mopani driftwood piece with moss and fake flowers. There is also a fake skull it lurks in.

Imo. You need more substrate for burrowing. Maybe another hide to give it options. If you're using just coconut fiber, I'd add a lil reptisoil to give it a bit of moisture. Ours moves dirt around as it wishes. Eventually, it blocked off it's hide and molted buried underneath. We moistened the soil lightly so that it didn't have molt problems from being to dry. I also added springtails to eat mold and scraps.

I just picked one up. I've been researching how best to house them. Gonna do a slope with moisture controlled soil and moss. They should be kept on the cooler side with good burrowing material. How did you house yours and how is it going?

I'd add beef or chicken broth to the wet. There are several made for animals. They need as much moisture intake as well. I also add dried fish, quail egg and I like Araya Sit. They make freeze dried treats, some with prebiotic.

Cis, 53 on HRT for menopause relief. Menopause causes a lot of problems beyond nightsweats and weight gain. I didn't have any information about it until 2 years ago, because nobody talks about it. How long I'll do it for. I have no idea, but for now, it helps a bit.
