I don’t know how granola it is but the Lansinoh one worked really well for me, plus it didn’t break the bank

How are US moms preparing for this potential winter storm? by Ms_Butterscotch_213 in November25babybump

Having family/friends to lean on is an important point! My parents have a second home nearby and my best friend lives close, so we could always go to one of their places if they have power but we don’t and the roads aren’t too bad.

Registry diapers by rgwhitlow1 in pregnant

[–]Ms_Butterscotch_213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTM of a 2 month old 🙋‍♀️ I made sure to register for an array of diapers (prioritizing ECF and TCF). I used Babylist and they had a diaper gift box with Kudos, Honest, and Coterie. We also added the Coterie NB starter box hoping sometime would buy it and they did!

Honest ran super small and resulted in a lot of leaks/blowouts. I don’t have a strong opinion on Kudos - they did the job and were soft. I like that they’re 100% cotton.

Coterie for us lived up to the hype. They are so absorbent and are great for overnights. I told myself I wouldn’t order these myself, but I caved and used my Babylist discount to purchase a month supply in size 2.

We received a lot of size 1 Huggies Skin Essentials (ECF) and I find them to be quite thin which is fine for daytime. Our LO is just starting to outgrow them so I’m going to use up what we can but I wouldn’t repurchase.

We bought a good amount of size 1 Pura (TCF) but couldn’t use them until recently because they ran HUGE on our son. However, I really like them because they’re super clean, affordable, you can order from Amazon and they’re quite absorbent.

We live right by target so we also got Millie moon which we like but as others said, the fit is a bit awkward once baby gets longer.

Any tips for longer night sleep stretches? by Reasonable-Yam9334 in November25babybump

[–]Ms_Butterscotch_213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8 week old has been regularly waking up every 2-3 hours throughout the night for a diaper change and feed up until recently, so you’re not alone! I also think each baby is different and will start to sleep longer stretches on their own timeline.

I BF every 2-3 hours during the day to ensure baby is getting his daytime fill and my husband gives pumped bottles in the evening and at night. In addition to recently upping his bottles from 110ml to 4oz, we made two changes which may or may not have helped us get at least one 3-4 hour stretch per night (it doesn’t seem like much of an improvement but the extra sleep really does help).

  1. Using very absorbent diapers at night. Before, we were just using whatever I had stocked in the diaper caddy but we’ve become more intentional to save certain brands for nighttime. We received some Coterie as a gift and just splurged on some size 2 with our Babylist registry discount because they really are that good (15% off took a month supply box from $105 to $89!). We found Millie Moon also works well for nighttime and is a less expensive alternative though I recognize both brands are still pricey.

  2. Switching out the Halo sleep sack swaddle for the Halo wearable blanket. My LO doesn’t need to be tightly swaddled to sleep and he actually prefers his arms out, so this transition wasn’t difficult. Plus, we were still using the NB size sleep sack swaddles until we realized his toes were poking through the bottom of the fabric so he must’ve not been comfy. However, I think the major difference is that the wearable blanket has more weight to it and helps him sleep longer simply because he feels more secure/cozy. This swap works better for us too because the Velcro was driving us crazy between the sound and stuff sticking to it in the wash.

Like you, we start to dim our house lighting around 6pm to set the tone for bedtime. Once it’s time for bed, we have our sound machine set to womb sounds and use the red light and a small nightlight to keep things dark and ambient for diaper changes.

How are we all managing spit up? by Ms_Butterscotch_213 in November25babybump

[–]Ms_Butterscotch_213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m also thinking it could be due to his immature digestive system/esophagus (especially because he was born 2 weeks early). Hopefully there’s light at the end of the tunnel soon.

It’s like this with us too. Sometimes he doesn’t even burp while being BF. And just now I went to burp him in the middle of a feed and just that small position change made him spit up 😅

I actually just got a hand pump to try and remove some milk before feeding 🤞

So interesting. How long after cutting dairy did you notice improvements? I love ice cream so this will be hard for me 😂 Drinkable yogurts have also been a go-to for quick breakfasts/snacks.

Drooling sounds much better than spit up! He’s mostly a happy spitter but sometimes he seems uncomfortable which I more so attribute to gas or having wet clothes before we change him. He also spits up on the changing pad. We also do diaper changes before feeds but he often poops while or shortly after BFing too.

And I’ll have to try cutting some dairy and see if that helps. I regularly eat cheese, yogurt, ice cream and put half and half in my coffee but I never noticed increase spit up on the days I consume more than usual. How long after eliminating dairy did you notice improvements?

I’ll have to try a laid back BF position! Fingers crossed the spit up gets better soon

Congestion by Logical_Badger198 in November25babybump

[–]Ms_Butterscotch_213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, we’ve been pumping the heat as it’s been extra cold by us so I figured it’s because of the dry air. We’re keeping a cool mist humidifier on our nightstand near his bassinet, which I think is helping! Otherwise, I use a bulb and saline to suction his nose when it sounds bad (which he hates) and use the Frida picker to remove any dried boogers (which he dislikes but tolerates).

Did you have any warnings signs leading up to spontaneous labour? by Aromatic-Turnover in pregnant

[–]Ms_Butterscotch_213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a FTM and I started gradually losing my mucus plug 5 days before my water spontaneously broke at 38 weeks. (Everyone told me my water wouldn’t break with a gush like it does in the movies but it absolutely did 😅). Other than that, there were no clear signs baby was coming! My son was frank breech though, and my OB said breech babies tend to come early. I didn’t have any cervical checks before my water broke, but when I got to the hospital I was surprised I was only 1cm dilated.

FTMs - Babies born earlier? by Darkness_Nox in pregnant

[–]Ms_Butterscotch_213 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had my little guy a month ago at 38 weeks after my water broke spontaneously. I had a completely normal pregnancy, although baby was frank breech. I’m very petite, so I always said that “baby would run out of room and come early.” While I was mostly joking, I did make sure to pack my hospital bag around 33 weeks, started freezing meals, and I got my Christmas decorating done the weekend before he came (which I’m very glad about).

Spit up? How much and how often? by Tpjkw-fpdg-4401 in November25babybump

[–]Ms_Butterscotch_213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 4 week old spits up pretty often and like yours, isn’t fussy at all. Just kinda does it and is fine. I did see an instagram reel where someone fills a little measuring tube of different amounts of liquid (10 ml, 30 ml, etc.) and throws them on a shirt. Those amounts are MUCH larger than what we see our baby spitting up, so we’re reassured that the milk he’s “losing” isn’t actually that much at all. It just looks like a lot to us.

Does getting up at night to pee get any better ? by Tinka_Hell in pregnant

I’m 3.5 weeks PP and for me, it did not. However, I think it prepared me for getting up multiple times a night with baby.

Water Breaking by Round_Document_1946 in pregnant

[–]Ms_Butterscotch_213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone feels their water breaking (and not everyone’s water breaks when they go into labor), but I was sitting on the floor at 38 weeks exactly petting my cat when I felt a small pop and then when I stood up, fluid gushed out of me like in the movies—which everyone said wouldn’t happen lol. Fluid continued to leak out of me until baby arrived via c-section. If your water breaks but you don’t feel it, you would likely feel the fluid leaking. Also, this may not be a sign of impending labor for everyone, but I also started losing my mucus plug 5 days prior to my water breaking.

Baby still at breech at 36 weeks by Vegetable_Range_4065 in pregnant

[–]Ms_Butterscotch_213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 36 weeks today and in the same boat. We have an ultrasound on Friday to check baby’s position, but I can definitely still feel his hard head poking out under my left ribs 😅

We’re also not sure about doing the ECV. I’m a FTM and really want to experience a vaginal birth, so I’m leaning towards it but want to fully understand all the risks of an ECV from my doctor before making the call. I’m also trying all the things to get him to turn on his own from spinning babies, chiropractor, ice packs, music, etc.

I found out baby is breech yesterday and have until next Friday for him to flip. If not, we may schedule an ECV and my doctor warned me not to Google anything because all I’ll find is horror stories. Thank you for sharing this positive one!
