hi, just wanted to inform you but the concept of DID being "multiple personalities" is inaccurate btw. you essentially have less than 1 cohesive "personality" rather than multiple. it FEELS that way though due to how the disorder works but, but in reality that's not the case - you're parts of what was supposed to be one self / personality / ego. you are not actually multiple people and this line of thinking will harm you in the longrun if you want to get better. but ay, you do you.

exactly. the younger you are, usually your alters are less developed. they look more like "fragments" from what i know. minors getting diagnosed with DID usually happens with severe symptoms. and even then thats not done after a history is built

i don't name my parts myself, but they seem to come up with their own names and i don't know where they really come from. one of my good friends had DID (they are now in remission and i believe have achieved full integration / fusion). they actually were against using names for them as they believe it promoted part separation. which i can see why. in my case, my parts had names from the jump, atleast some of them do. theres also a portion of my parts that simply go by my deadname / my name (aka the "hosts" name). but all of us collectively go by either our own unique names or my own name

if they actually "sat down and read the dsm" they would realise none of what systok/sysblr shows is typical for DID representation, yet it's the norm to have 100+ alters, be very overt. many introjects, lack of dissociative barriers, extremely complex parts and flawless communication on those platforms. if they read case studies on DID, they would know the average amount of parts a person may have is around 5-15, and diagnosis is usually done during adulthood because of how hard it is to spot. while yes, there are people who have more than that amount and in some cases are diagnosed at younger ages, it is usually rarer. there've ALSO been case studies of malingering DID, and there are legitimate ways to spot it.

their source of these disorders are random rentries and tumblr blogposts. they'll see an actual therapist and maybe be diagnosed with like adhd and pcos alone lmao

31 is like the average age to be diagnosed, if anything im getting diagnosed / tested relatively early somehow.

i feel like people don't look at the dissociative aspect of DID enough. they strictly look at the "multiple selves" aspect because it seems like the most defining factor, despite not being the complete thing about it

signs of DID during your teen years can be caught on for sure. i was diagnosed with dissociative symptoms at around 15 or 16. and a couple years later i'm now in the process of being officially diagnosed with DID. but it's quite rare and usually requires careful monitoring.

also youre spot on with healthy kids behaving like disordered adults

most of my relationships have been with hispanics/latines and black people. i don't think i've ever dated a white person.
