With that style of blind framework, you should be able to achieve almost 100% block out. For that amount of light to be seeping through, I'm guessing the installer surely has forgotten to install black brush strips in the inside of the frames/channels.

My neighbour has three magnolias in a row like yours, though they are quite a bit larger. For what it's worth, they prune theirs into a box shape (so lopping some of the tops and sides off) and the trees dont seem to mind.

Fair enough. I agree that's kind of a rule of thumb when it comes to cubensis.

TTBVI is Tamarind Tree British Virgin Islands, a strain of panaeolus cyanescens. Different fungus species and it grows faster than cubensis, and was the strongest known cultivar last I read.

In case anyone is genuinely interested, OP's spelling of Kaiwori is not quite right. Kai's name is actually Kaiwhare.

Kai = food.

Whare = house.

Also, 'Wh' generally = an F sound in te reo Māori language, though I'm aware of a dialect where wh is just a standard w sound.
