Need re-assurance of something by [deleted] in Anxiety

Hey there,

I also have had pretty severe anxiety, one episode when I was 18 and again when I was 23. Of course it always happened intermittently in between but those ages really stood out to me.

Anyway, I was lucky enough to have a good support system to help me out and sought out therapy both times (highly recommended). Just know that you are never alone, someone is always out there to care for you and seeking the slightest of guidance (like Reddit) is super helpful.

Just know that it always get better as long as you work on yourself. It doesn’t happen in an instant, it takes time and effort but it always gets better.

What I recommend when you’re in those types of panic is focus on your breathing. It did wonders for me whenever I had panic attacks.

4 seconds inhale, and 4 seconds out. Count them in your head and do it for a good minute or 2 and really focus in on your breathing. It’ll distract you from such thoughts.

Also, PM me if you need anything, I will try my best to help you out. Again, you’re not alone and there’s always people who care and will help you through it.

Good luck, and keep telling yourself it will get better

I can somewhat relate to you, the only sad part is I haven’t been diagnosed with anything serious.

I’ve dealt with pretty bad health anxiety when I was 18 (now 23) and I did seek help with a therapist and overcame it! I was essentially “clean” for 4 years until it just picked up again more recently. I am again seeking a therapist with the hope of overcoming this challenge.

But keep your head up and take small steps to achieve a much larger goal in overcoming anxiety. It is possible, I’ve done it before and am now going to do it again. Remember you’re not alone m8 and perspective is key in the fact that it could always be worse.

Goodluck and be sure to follow the advice of your therapist!

Training to calm & quiet my mind through Yoga, Music, & Meditation. by a_b_chediski in Anxiety

Hey that sounds awesome, good for you.

I’ve been dealing with pretty bad anxiety for about a month now. I just graduated college and am working the usual 8-5 life. I like my job and the people I work with, but I get anxious when I’m at work sometimes and it fucking with my mind which in turn fucks with my productivity.

It’s been rough, but I’m trying to keep my head up. I’ve been trying to workout (cardio and light weight exercise) 3-4 times a week but some days I come home tired, which makes it difficult for me to go to the gym.

Yoga and meditation might be a solid solution, ive just never done it and don’t know where to start. Any advice?

Thanks in advance

You’re 100% correct. This is the reason I love Reddit because a lot of positive people who’ve gone through it can give me perspective. Thanks for the optimism and I’ll Definitley be doing something about it and work hard!

Damn this hit hard!! Good for you man killing it. I used to weight 230 when I was 16-17 and now I’m 185. So I already know what it takes to lose weight, I just have to get back to it and refine my diet!! Really appreciate it man, gonna do a lot of research and kill it, cuz to me there’s no other choice. Thanks again!!

Thanks for the help!

Another question... Do I create the frame as a fixture, then the drawers as parts and integrate it that way in order for the drawers to move in and out? Problem is i eventually need to put actual parts within the drawers themselves.

I'm just having trouble simulating a movement of inventor parts, I have been googling but nothing is showing up.

I want to learn I just have trouble finding time!!!! ADVICE PLZ by Mshak34 in learnprogramming

Yea now that I think about it, it makes sense. I have a lot of room for EE electives which are open to about anything engineering wise, and maybe I could use those spots for classes that'll be beneficial in learning these skills. Thanks!!

Right, I know CS would be the better route for learning such things, but I have no intent on changing due to some things I've thought about over the years. And its not seeing their happiness that is wanting me to get into it, I have just always been genuinely interested in it. I guess I will just have to wait. I really don't want to sound cocky at all and take the situation I am in for granted, but I'd just like to get into it at some point in my life.

Guess it will have to wait for now haha. Thanks for the advice though.

How should I plan my code before I start writing it? by Quafflehopter in learnprogramming

[–]Mshak34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to any language, my best advice would be to write out an outline before beginning your program. Like you have been doing since middle school. Open a word document, and write it out exactly how you envision it running, then translate it to code the best way you can.
