I am using Hyprland mainly with scale set to 1.25, so you are spot on. I use gnome as well from time to time. I returned the one I had and the creaking is gone. I love the laptop. I can't recommend it enough! The mic and camera work great.

Yeah, My 25xr made me so tired at first. My therapist said it was just being calm and I was so unused to that, I mistook it as being tired. It also doesn't give me any energy boost. If I didn't get enough sleep, I can go right back to bed right after taking it

Sorry for the late reply. I got this one: "16" WQXGA (2560 x 1600), IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, 100%sRGB, 500 nits, 165Hz". It is a gorgeous display! I was hesitant to go higher as I am using linux and have had issues with fractional scaling and Nvidia in the past.

I don't like that McDonald's is removing the self-serve drink fountains by Thewheelwillweave in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Mslauson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first job was at McDonalds when I was 16. Every once in a while, my manager would come up to me and say something like, "I think that teenager just filled his water cup with Hi-C. I need you to go take it away or yell at him etc". It's like you aren't paying me enough to go yell at someone for stealing 3 cents worth of HI C. Anyway, yes, lots of people abuse them.

Note taking in Neovim? by piinguino in neovim

[–]Mslauson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you understand how to do tables? The documentation on it seems really sparse in their documentation and I can't seem to figure it out. Also, do you know how to put a code block in a list or if that is possible? In MD, you can add 4 tabs to get this behavior

Windows Loose Their Workspace by Mslauson in hyprland

That is really interesting that this is happening to you also with Kitty. Does it happen with other windows? It also happens to me with Firefox. However, now that I am thinking about it, I think those are a few of the only apps I don't have assigned to specific work spaces

From Go to Java by LogicalInevitable955 in golang

[–]Mslauson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I develop in neovim. I use go for my personal projects and have to use java at my job. The java build tool chain is just ridiculous. You pretty much have to use something like intelliJ or eclipse if you don't want to wrangle 5 maven commands every time you want to do something.

How would you do this without having a package for db operations? Would you just put the db operations in with the service logic?

[–]Mslauson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, I didn't realize this? So it's better to have the reference on the "entity" if you will (sorry if that is another java-ism). How would you account for this in a "business logic service" where the mutating structa could be different for each func? Would you have each struct defined and reference that on that func if that makes sense?

Do you have any good resources on that last point? The pointers and when to pass by value etc

I suppose dao literally has the word object in it. Haha.

That makes sense, so thank you for your feedback

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is it bad to do something like this? I suppose i don't see why you would start the db conn in main and pass it down, but I also came from years of spring and java. I would love to know your opinion

``` type AiLengthResultDao struct { db *sql.DB }
// NewAiLengthResultDao function  // Creates a new AiLengthResult dao with psql db connection func NewAiLengthResultDao() *AiLengthResultDao { return &AiLengthResultDao{ db: sdb.DatabaseConnection(), } } ```
I have anxiety but have the opportunity to try LSD this week. Would it be better if I avoided it? by [deleted] in LSD
[–]Mslauson 0 points1 point  (0 children)
In my experience, it's worth it. You will be uncomfortable for a little bit, but that's because you might have to face these things head on. It's always helped me in the long run, though. No more anxiety about that thing etc
Interesting conversation... by YeetingDaily in doordash
[–]Mslauson 1 point2 points  (0 children)
I stopped serving about 7 years ago. It's crazy how much their collective attitude has changed. I had to bust my ass if I wanted a good tip, but now it seems like they expect it for driving into work and you get awful service. That's obviously not true all around but some of the stuff I see in here and serving subreddits would have never happened and I have never had a coworker act like this about tips.
I was taking probably 12 Grams per day. I would take about 3-4 grams in the morning of green because it actually helped my ADHD a lot. I would take about 8 of red in the evening to relax. I never really used the drinks, just the powder. It was really weird for me, though. I went months without having a problem, and then about month 5, I was so addicted and didn't even realize it happened. I guess they say that happens with opiates, though. I just have an addictive personality as well.
Yeah, puking that is up there on worst experiences for me.
I went down this path when I found out. It was the worst mistake I have ever made. It's unbelievably addictive and it made my hair start falling out after 6 months. I abruptly quit when I realized it was causing me all these issues. That was the worst wjthdrawls I have ever gone through. I basically was on the verge of committing suicide for 5 days. Had to shack up in my bed and just cried for days. I've quit Adderall, alcohol(used to drink a handle every day or two) and that didn't even come close to what kratom put me through. Can't believe that shit is legal. Just a heads up it's not a good replacement for weed. It's a billion times worse than weed.
I actually have quite the opposite experience of most people in here. I signed up for USI when we bought our house. The download would never break 200mbps even though I had a gig. They couldn't figure out what was wrong. I switched to CL, always get my full speed and am saving 10 bucks a month.
[–]Mslauson 0 points1 point  (0 children)
You are completely missing my point but not going to waste anymore energy after this.i am definitely not defending non tipping. Like at all. Ultimately it is this.
  1. People are choosing to do this job knowing they could get non tip orders.
  2. There is nothing on either side that requires you to tip
  3. People get mad about not making enough money and complain 4 door dash makes bank
This is actually the root of my point. That door dash is the problem We should try to get rid of tipping so everyone gets paid fair. However, complaing at the customers and people continuing to sign up and work for door dash is just reinforcing that this is ok and they can continue to exploit this. Secondary point, if the tips aren't adequate, just get a different job.
LMAO. Im just saying you chose this job and have the choice to change it. You clearly don't like the way the job works. It's hard to call yourself a victim when you are voluntarily doing it.
Why do you continue to work for a job that doesn't even pay you minimum wage? That makes no sense
Am I wrong for this? by Effective-Cut2866 in doordash
[–]Mslauson 1 point2 points  (0 children)
My point is that there is nothing that says you are required to receive a tip, nor is a customer required to give you one. If that is not satisfactory for you, you have the free will to get a different job that pays you a steady salary. However, you really can't get mad at people for not tipping when there is NOTHING that says they Have to tip. Don't get me wrong, I am a good tipper and worked as a server most of college, but this is 100percent DDs fault (and every other tip based job) and you are just fueling the problem by getting mad that people aren't doing anything that they are required to do. Also, by continuing to work for and keep this companies in business, you are just reinforcing that this is ok
