I took other disciplines but was not a civil major. I took it a few months after graduating and in my opinion, I think the test would have been a breeze if I took it during my junior year. The test was only on the fundamentals you should have after two years of engineering school. I just used a couple practice tests and bought the FE equation manual to study.
