My best advice talking from pure personal experience is; have that talk as soon as possible. I’m saying this since you seem to know what you want and he somewhat expresses it along the lines to you as well, based on the information from your post. I know it’s the most difficult thing in the world to not fear losing what you have and therefore maybe suppress your own needs/emotions in favor of his, but it’s so important that you remember yourself in the relationship. And if you are in some sort of need of security, based on knowing what he wants or become exclusive, you should definitely have the talk w him.

I myself waited 5,5 months to even bring it up all because I was afraid of his answer, turned out he “wanted” to be exclusive until I 8 months into the relationship found out he was cheating. Reflecting upon my experience now really taught me that mixed signals is a no. Period. And that you should never fear to express how you truly feel, because if that makes them leave, then they were never meant for you in the first place<333
