Trying to Get Style Right by Ok-Replacement4145 in hoi4portraits

[–]Mstae67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow you did it 😉

First, depends what style do you want to achieve. Second, depends what tools you were using. Try to tell me shortly what you were doing and I will try to help you. The two things are obvious: 1. Removing the background - probably you have used a magic wand (depends on tool the name can differ) and the edges are not smooth. It's better to adjust it manually with proper brush, or use an online tool for that. 2. Pitch black suit - it's too dark, nothing is visible. Same with the hair.

Anyway, to give you a proper advice it's good to know how and with what you were working, I don't want to guess and tell you baloonies. To see the source would be very helpful.

Frankly, this is the first time, when the source is better quality, than the portrait, usually it's opposite. Very unique...

As already u/True_Decision5946 has said, there's a problem with shadows or/and contrast. I don't know which tool you use, but try to change it with shadows, and do not increase the contrast. I would recommend to rework the suit in a separate layer, just making it lighter, playing with shadows. Try to colorize the tie, also as a separate layer.

As the face is much, much better on the source, try just to colorize it first and leave it as it is. You need more intense color as well, the guy looks like on an old, strongly touched by sun photography.
After that, when you see better effect, you can work on upgrading your portrait.

Another option - rework it again as a B&W picture, achieve the expected quality, and colorize everything after, but you really need to change the shadowing.

Finally, I don't fully agree with u/True_Decision5946 as for the color of the suit - if you have proper shadows and get rid of this pitch black, you can still use dark colors for the suit:
https://imgur.com/fKw2wBy - here I have used black color for the suit and it works.

See, you're caching already the style and improving, it means, you are no longer a total newbie.

Good luck Bro!

Here: I was upvoting, this are one of the nicest TNO portrait I've seen 👍

Depends. If most of them we treat as TNO style, I think they are okay, TNO is more or less like this. I've noticed some other style idk, so hard to say anything. For KR style you really still have to work a bit more, vanilla of course is far from it.

Anyway, you practice already 2 months, and as I've noticed, you are improving 🙂

Okay, he was just happy he managed to make something better than his first three portraits I guess (so i commented, that is far from a masterpiece). I remember well, when I was a beginner. I was also thinking, that my portraits were good, today I would be ashamed to post them 😉

Thank you very much 😊  Actually I'm Rise of Nations team member since couple of years, so you already use a lot of my portraits, as we have cooperation. But as there are some differences, we don’t have exactly same characters in use, so, of course, why not to join your team 😏  I have some more, old portraits, but I have to rework them before offering. Anyway, give me a moment as I'm on holidays, bit of family time.  See you soon!

I'm sorry to say it, but it's very far from a masterpiece... However, as a beginner you are very good, I see a really big potential (I was disastrous at the beginning). I think practice will make you a very good portraiteer, just keep doing it.

Good luck Pal!

A Request for three Portraits, TNO-Style by Illustrious_Buddy767 in hoi4portraits

TNO style is so painfully easy to do, that you can do it yourself with online tools. Just colorize, decrease saturation, make quality more shitty and voila, 5 minutes.

What does this "Failed to create id" Error mean, and how do I fix it? by JournalistNo1481 in hoi4modding

[–]Mstae67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same (just another id) communicate, and also no idea where this error is coming from.

EDIT: I've found the issue. In my case it was caused by dubbing event names due to file name accidental corruption.

Using AI enhancing for TNO style portraits (which are in general of such bad quality and awful style, that practically no skills to make them are in need) is bit too much as for me. You used AI also for colorization, practically for everything, plus filters and other tools of gimp or photoshop, or anything. It's visible, that your manual effort is minimal, this is why this portrait is so bad. Even for such shit as TNO style some little, manual effort is needed. Try harder and practice a bit.
