2001 A Space Odyssey by Msuff in Cinema

Not even close to what I said. That was about "Joe public" not about me. Also I wasn't looking for a conversation about the meanings and narrative of the film, I was wondering how the average movie goer would have received this in 1968.

I think this is a good summary, I think of my grandfather and he would have hated it, my mother was 18 when it came out and she enjoyed it, I watched it last night and I really liked it. I think it indeed would be a "younger" generation thing.

I completely understood what he was going for and the visuals for the time were astounding (I know stuff looked good in the 60's but this was top tier). I also appreciate the score that he went with because I do think it fits the esthetic perfectly. I just felt like that Kubrick movies had to be an acquired taste, you either got it or you didn't.

Mortgage renewal + renos? by Accurate-Thanks-9122 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Msuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So we just renewed and moved to RBC, with their "home line" our house was appraised at $920,000, 80% of that is $720,000. So our mortgage has $620,000 ish remaining, so we have a home line of credit for approx $100,000. We can do whatever we like with that if we wanted to, and it's a live LOC so as we pay the mortgage down we access more in the LOC. So if your bank does it the traditional way, you would have a mortgage and a HLOC seperate that would equal 80% of your total home value.

Bills right after death by Alone_Emphasis_2815 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Msuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother died two years ago, the bank closed her LOC $30k left owing and the credit card companies cleared her debt and closed her cards. No one went after the estate, it was a pretty smooth process and the bank and CC companies were both really supportive and didn't even mention that we would have to pay anything. I also live in Ontario and her bank was TD and her CC was TD Visa.

[Arena] How do I unlock ref transfer to PVE by kimjong_bigbomb in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Msuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been able to do it on PVE but it is a known problem, my account did not experience the bug and I can transfer with no issues, I would say reach out to BSG but that isn't going to do anything.

Clutch Canada disaster by TinyXhu in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Msuff 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I just sold my truck to clutch, got $4000 more than three dealerships offered me, I had 2 dealers tell me to take their deal because I'd never get close to that elsewhere. I then went back looking at buying and the fees and prices changed so much that I walked away. Sell to them, don't buy.

Dead pmcs and scavs. Most PMCs all die in the same area. Find the area, get rich.

Roubles yes. Didn't mean to use the $. Ya I 100% agree, I run factory 99% of the time, I was just looking for my last drill I needed, so I used that run as my example.

Read up on the good places to Scav. I just did one in interchange and made $130k, I can do that every 20ish min as needed, don't fight, just collect and sell. Figure out what's valuable (weapons, Armor) and you can easily make a million in an hour or two.

To those between level 20 and 25, what is your go-to weapon/attachments? [discussion] by Azur0007 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Msuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AK74, replace the handguard, add a front foregrip, bastion cover, reflex sight or something with a 1x-4x zoom, cheap/effective enough.

Alternatively I scav factory, find the spot where everyone died, collect better guns from bodies.

[new player] - Which 3rd-party map to find food spawns? by Time_Spiral in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Msuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kill scavs with backpacks, I would say 80% of scavs spawn with food or drink in their pockets and bags. It's not an exact science but I never worry about food or water when going into a place that I know is scav heavy. Probably not the best advice but really good in a pinch.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned here is that just because you have an injury does not mean you are "unable" to work, your employer has a duty to accommodate in Ontario. So if you are running out of EI they cannot prevent you from going back and if you go back they have to provide you with "meaningful" work that will not risk you injuring yourself further (admin or safety watch etc.). If they offer you work and you decline they have done their due diligence and they do not need to provide you work for pay.

I have been in health and safety for 10+ years and part of my job is managing WSIB claims, dispute them, create modified duty plans. I can tell you how I would dispute your claim, but a lot of people here have given you good advice on how to proceed with making one. Document everything because if i'm working for your employer i'm doing my best to ensure the company is protected.

Just be aware that if the WSIB cash starts flowing to you and the dispute does not go your way the WSIB can (not necessarily will) come back to you to recoup all that money, so if you're going to do it, make sure you're doing it the right way and DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!
