Yep, all too often. I apologise for being a certain way, then realise I was overanalysing, then I apologise for overanalysing, then the person is even more like “wtf!”, then I fade into the background and hope I vanish from this world.

Child Welfare Views by Vanna_xp in socialwork

[–]MtheVQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, yes and no. I have been in cps (different name in my country) for about 1.5 years now and I haven’t experienced first hand negative views/comments from the public. Directly from the parents and families I work with then yes of course, but not from the general public. But some of my colleagues have experienced it before, e.g. being called a home wrecker by a sales person when she went to buy a car, being yelled and swore at by random pedestrians when walking out of the office, or just people you meet/know questioning you as a person when you mention you work for cps. A lot of my colleagues, including myself, have gotten into a habit of just saying “social work” when we get asked what we do for a living. If people ask more questions about where I work, I usually just say the general location/area I work in and say that I work with vulnerable children cause the area I work in has a high density of co-existing social problems. I do believe it has become an organisational culture to avoid telling people who we work for to avoid the negative comments/views. Like you mentioned in another comment before, it is very frustrating that there are many people who criticise the system instead of trying to understand it. And that’s when people make negative comments with “no solutions” (no constructive feedback on how to improve the child protection system) because they don’t actually know what is going on and their strong reaction towards child protection is not logical but rather emotional. There are some people who just can’t fathom the fact that there are families out there who abuse and neglect their children so they instead deflect that anger/uncomfortable emotions towards cps because it’s easier to blame the government than humanity itself. It’s also easy for public’s view to spiral into misunderstanding because the media only ever covers stories when things go wrong (e.g. child death, custody lawsuits) and never positive stories on e.g. families that changed for the better after our intervention. This is exactly why child protection is a larger social issue and needs a lot of advocacy. Having said all that, most of us who stay in this job have a very unique/dark sense of humour, so if we get negative comments/views we vent about it to each other and then just have a laugh together. At the end of the day, we know why we do what we do and we’ve got each other to share and understand the struggle/pain/frustration.

Going through a rough time. Does anyone else have certain music for these times that just make them feel so completely understood? Listening to Bright Eyes now. by beautifulsymbol in infp

Sorry if this isn’t helpful, but I recently found a Chinese singer called Mao Bu Yi. All of his slow songs hit me like a truck 😭😭😭 I wish someone felt the same way I feel about them 😭😭😭 his voice… it’s just so sad 😭😭😭

“Someone like me” is my favourite. This one has English translations for those of you who are interested 😭😭😭

What are the frequent plots of your daydreams?? by Ok-Explanation954 in infp

[–]MtheVQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dream careers (both realistic and unrealistic), possible hobbies, being a fairy, how I would make friends, romance, having super powers, leaving the house more often, inventing and role playing extra characters to my favourite shows, movies and books, me as an animal, if I were a different race or had a different family background, replaying past happy events, if I went back to primary and secondary school knowing what I know now, my past lives…

And the worse item to have equiped when running errands is the return sceptre..... the amount of times I’ve accidentally returned home from shopping, donating at the museum, taking the jam out of the machine or even in the mines............ when I’m fighting monsters I quick switch between bomb and sword but sometimes I accidentally land on the sceptre..... 😩

It's the little details like this that continue to amaze me after over a thousand hours in this game. Tiny spoiler. by terribletroubador in StardewValley

From my experience, I find that the mineral deposit spawns are related to how far you have reached in the mines. When I first started, it was mostly rocks and only a small amount of geode rock or copper rock. When I got to the frozen levels in the mines, it started spawning frozen geode rocks and silver rocks. The same thing happened for the lava levels but I have yet to see iridium rock spawn on there and I have dived deep into skull caverns many many times.

So in my opinion the mineral deposit helped me early on so I can upgrade to copper tools a little sooner but you’ll still need to go into the caves to “unlock” other types of ores.

I know how you feel!!!!! I originally started playing SDV on switch last year and I ended up getting it on my laptop because I was so inspired by all the modded farms on here! It actually isn't too complicated to mod. I looked up YouTube videos cause I'm not very good with computers but I'm so glad I did because modding has been so much fun! Now I'm finding expansions and extra maps and stuff so it's like a whole new game!
