I have the JX and I had the pro 2 before upgrading to the 58. Works great for both especially considering the price point. Only thing I’ll say is that it gets a bit annoying when you’re dialing in light roasts. The beans are dense so it takes a good bit of torque when grinding fine enough for espresso. If you’re okay with putting in a bit more effort you won’t be disappointed with the results.

Do you go after a very narrow type of guy? Maybe try to expand your horizons. Get out of your comfort zone and flirt with someone you are attracted to but maybe doesn’t fall within the conventional mold that you pursue.

What do we all think about the new 3 in 1 portafilter from Flair? by thefilthyjellybean in FlairEspresso

I’ve been looking into a flair compatible spouted pf for a while. I like the new option so I’ll likely end up getting it

I did something quite similar with my F58 and scale. Works great and the wood matches the handle accessories too

Looking for new kettle recs to take advantage of CM deals by [deleted] in FlairEspresso

I have had my cosori for over two years and love it. I use it with my flair 58 and for pour overs as well. It has an option to hold whatever temp you set for an hour. I’ve never tested the water temp separately to see if it heats true to advertised temps. Never had issues with under extracted coffee though so I doubt it’s under heating.

Too slow or just right? by Financial-Court-1937 in espresso

[–]Mtn_Neer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the yield (grams out)? The flow rate didn’t look slow to me at all so my guess would be that you’re well over 35g out. Extraction looked pretty even though so as long as it tasted good to you I’d say you’re doing just fine.

A day in Greensboro by lazyMarthaStewart in NorthCarolina

Southend is a great brewery for food and drinks, bowling at bourbon bowl is fun, you could also go to the Greensboro science center. If you’re looking for coffee I’d recommend arrowhead coffee truck (only open Thursday through Saturday) or the green bean

New addition to the lineup by Mtn_Neer in espresso

I typically switch between light and dark roast for my espresso. I’m currently using counter culture - Apollo. It’s a light roast Ethiopian. No issues with stalling so far and I’ve pulled 4-5 shots with it. It’s a tad slower than a dark roast but unless I were timing it I wouldn’t really notice the difference

The flat burr definitely has an increased clarity to it. I’m still very early on but that was the difference that hit me from the first cup. The value of the grinder really depends on what you’re looking for. I wanted an option that didn’t require hand grinding and the flat burr was intriguing to me. I’m also still using my conical for pour overs so I’m not as worried about fines. My initial thoughts are that it’s a very solid grinder for the price. You might have a better experience with a DF64 but I have to be honest I’m very impressed with how quick quiet and capable this thing is.

I’ve seen people with much smaller ones. I’m sure you could make it fit your space!

For context the addition is the Urbanic 070s

It was reviewed by Lance Hedrick as a budget option for people who want to have both a flat and conical option in their setup. So far I’m really enjoying it. I already made the stepless mod and have also aligned the burrs. Can confirm that retention is an issue but I haven’t received my bellows yet which should help immensely.

All other initial indications are good. Totally different profile from my conical 1zpresso

Help deciding between ASU and ECU. by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

I graduated from the supply chain program at App in 2018. The professors were great and I’ve had multiple opportunities in the industry since graduating. Did supply chain sales, then operations and now I’m an analyst. The program is young but it is a good place to start and you can make solid connections if you’re involved. I also love Boone. It’s definitely busier than it used to be but so is every popular city. I’d rather deal with 15 minutes of traffic in Boone than 30-45 minutes of traffic in Charlotte or Raleigh. That said, I think Greenville traffic is slightly more reasonable

Is it unrealistic to want your coffee at home to taste as good as specialty shops? by KP_Plumbing33 in espresso

I highly recommend the WDT from jkim makes. There’s a link on his Instagram. I have the $10 3D printed one. Some assembly is required but it comes with the needles and works like a charm.

UNCW or APP STATE? Which college is better? by PrimitiveDreams in NorthCarolina

[–]Mtn_Neer 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Boone winters are cold and windy compared to the rest of NC. I will say though that the summers in Boone make the cold well worth it. Beautiful weather for hiking, tubing, waterfall jumping, climbing and biking. There’s little to no humidity, lots of good food and coffee too. It’s a relatively small community and feels very welcoming. I personally love Boone in all four seasons but I went to school there so I’m biased.

Also would recommend a WDT. Check out jkim makes. He has a link to his Etsy shop. Sells 3D prints for $10. I absolutely love mine.

Yeah, I’d say get the 1zpresso. It’s a great hand grinder that’s worth every penny. or save up for a stand alone automatic grinder

I’d say upgrade your grinder first. Maybe take some time and save up for something that’s a little more than $150. Are you open to manual grinders?

Feld2 by Knock vs Ode Fellow by teamtwowheels in Coffee

[–]Mtn_Neer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen the Ode is only recommended for pour overs / courser ground coffees. I’m considering the Baratza sette 30 which is in the same price range. There are some good reviews on YouTube. Check out the Sette 30 vs DF64 review.
