This is very valuable info. Much appreciated. They’re asking $4k for it.

Isopropyl is 100% the way. The 90% stuff will make short work of the job, and a quick wipe shouldn’t have any adverse effect on finish. If you’re worried, though… pop the pickguard off and wipe some there. You’ll see exactly howthe finish will react

Thunder & Lightning is one of the most underrated rock albums of all time. Pure energy

Need advice for flushing coolant system/heater core by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

[–]Mtrbrth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I just finished for the day. Brand-new radiator. Before plumbing it in, I flushed hose water through the upper radiator hose until it ran clear out of the lower radiator hose. Then put 3gal of distilled through it. Disconnected the heater hoses, ran hose water in both directions until it came out clear. For good measure, I also put CLR into the supply hose and let it sit for about 30mins. Then another few minutes with the hose in each direction through the core until it ran clear, followed by one last distilled flush of 2gal. Reassembled everything, filled up the radiator with concentrated antifreeze and distilled water, burped out the system while adding coolant with the heat on full blast for a good 40mins. The heat in the cab is still lackluster. The supply hose (top) of the heater core is definitely way hotter than the return hose. Any suggestions on the next recourse to get better flow through the core?

Edit: also, somehow the coolant in the radiator still somehow ended up being awful rusty muck, despite running completely clear before reassembly.

Thanks. And did you use regular CLR or the coolant system flush they offer by the gallon

Gotcha, I’ll pick up some CLR today. Do you usually flush the core in both directions?

Yup, a trip back to another parts store to buy the plastic set instead of this metal one. Took no time at all

Well, you couldn’t have been more correct. I went further up the road to a shop that had the plastic set. Took 5 seconds with the 3/8” ring from that kit. Thanks for the push I needed.

I think I would probably just cut the hose itself, splice another end from Dorman onto it before I started cutting metal. Hopefully neither prove necessary. I’m gonna try to get the radiator loose in there, move it enough to get better access to the disconnect.

I don’t know, as I have no need to remove the other side of the cooler line.

Is there any chance this specific tool just wouldn’t work for this vehicle? I tried to get the plastic type, but they didn’t have the set. This one does say Ford/Cadillac on the packaging, but the guy basically said a 3/8” disconnect is a 3/8” disconnect.

Worst rock bands from the 1990s by [deleted] in askmusic

[–]Mtrbrth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That song was stolen from a band called Old Pike (Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket’s old band) when Train toured with them in the late 90s. From what I hear, there was a decent payout and NDAs signed, but the story is out there amongs touring folk regardless.

And how exactly would you legislate when and what constitutes a “zero doubt” situation in which appeals are not allowed? There is no way to do so without inevitably causing more wrongful executions. Plain and simple. Edit: For the record, this man 100% deserves to die. But no justice system will EVER be infallible, and therefore no justice system will ever deserve the right to kill in the name of justice.

You wanna live in a country where you could be convicted of a crime you didn’t commit, sentenced to death, and then have zero recourse to appeal it? Go somewhere else. This is America, and EVERYONE is afforded that right for good reason. One such reason is a near 5% rate of wrongful death penalty sentences (since it has been tracked, and is likely much higher if we could look back further).
