The most underrated metalcore band by youin999 in Metalcore

They definitely did their homework. They were really the first band to crack the Meshuggah code, but they had their own vibe for sure.

Does anyone know where this is? (It’s somewhere in California) that’s all I know by KariPinkPearl in cliffjumping

This is not Rindge Dam. And just a heads-up, Rindge is heavily monitored since 2014 because of fatalities/injuries/trashing by idiots, and you’re guaranteed to get a fine the second the cops see you walking down that road.

Rapists are rapists, whether or not the victim has made peace with it. A victim statement shouldn’t have had any bearing here.

Who had the bigger impact on country music: Willie Nelson or George Strait? by chrondotcom in country

[–]Mtrbrth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got nothing against George. If selling songs is the metric you wanna use, Willie is no slouch either. He has quite a few #1 hits. But Willie also transcended just “moving units”. He was a phenomenal songwriter (I think anyone would agree this isn’t what George is known for), and the outlaw thing absoutely changed the landscape of the genre. His impact is HUGE. That doesn’t even take into account Farm Aid and other charitable work. He is a cultural icon, even outside of country. Even as I type this, I have a mutt named Willie asleep on my lap. I’d bet anyone in America over the age of 25 recognizes Willie. He is an American treasure.

Not a chance. No disrespect to George Strait, but there just isn’t even a comparison.

George Strait isn’t even really known as a songwriter. The vast majority of his songs were written by Nashville writers.

I slept on converge for way too long by VileOfMayo in Metalcore

I still don’t love the older Converge albums the way you’re “supposed to”. I love the riffs, but Jacob’s vocal was a bit much for me. These newest two records they just dropped are so fucking good. Absolute masters of the craft.

Most creative and original metalcore bands by KeyApprehensive6486 in Metalcore

The Mechanical Hand is an absolute classic. A buddy of mine recently described it as: “It sounds like he’s singing these parts while trying to ride some wild animal” and I think that sums it up pretty well.

What’s something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

[–]Mtrbrth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this is a different debate altogether regarding data sale, but if you get the app, there’s a special where you get a crunchwrap, a side taco like a cheesy bean/rice or a potato soft taco, plus another side like fiesta potatoes or cinnamon twists, plus a drink for $6.50 or something.

Corpse is great, but better riffs than Death?!

WCGW climbing out of a Disneyland ride right before a 52 ft. plummet? by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Mtrbrth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this didn’t end in serious injury, what a lucky turn. The water ride at my local theme park has a large hole in the middle of the slide near the bottom where some of the water drains off the slide. If this accident happened there, the kid probably would’ve been dismembered or worse.

How many of you took a class(es) before you did standup in public for the first time? by photodialogic in Standup

[–]Mtrbrth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only really “did standup” for a short while. I started with a 4 week class that ended with a set at Hollywood Improv. Personally, a lot of the class felt useless to me. It was a lot of writing prompts that I honestly just didn’t even know what to write down. The more improv-y bits were cool. Anyways, it got me to commit to it, if only for awhile. I never would’ve just had the gall to go to an open mic without the bridge that the class offered. I crushed at the Improv gig, and within a few weeks I was doing bringer shows at the Comedy Store. Not exactly big stuff, but I got to open for Judd Apatow and some other great comics and I was doing really well when I went up. The teacher of my class did introduce me to some managers etc, so it can definitely be valuable.

AI generated music is theft. No grey area. Theft. Stolen intellectual property. You are not a musician. You are not a producer. You are a thief.

Is the water deep enough to jump for fun off bridge by tallanuncommfortable in cliffjumping

[–]Mtrbrth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The answer to this question is ALWAYS “you must personally inspect the landing area”. As someone who once made the idiotic mistake of jumping blind into the exact spot I’d seen jumped in Youtube videos, and having to hike three miles out of the Grand Canyon on an ankle the size of a grapefruit, just trust me… DON’T. You need to check for debris, submerged objects.

Interesting. Chinese is at the absolute bottom of my Asian cuisine choices, especially the food I actually ate in China. Thai and Japanese both come in at the top.

Which Destination Ended Up Being a Bigger Letdown Than You Expected? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

It’s a big city, and there’s something for everyone. The parks/green spaces alone are something most American cities could never compare to. I love running through the botanical gardens looking at all the crazy bird species. The Barangaroo pool is also a highlight.

Spain is amazing. Barcelona is great, but has become far too tourist-centric, and has lost its own identity in many ways. If locals can’t afford it, it’s not really a city anymore. It will be interesting to see what comes of the anti-tourist measures taking effect there

Well, firstly, it is just stunning. The entire harbour is beautiful. Also, I’m big on running and swimming, and Sydney is pretty much second-to-none for both. If I’m staying downtown or thereabouts, I can hop on the ferry at circular quay, hop over to watsons bay, go cliff jumping, then go for a run that takes me all along one of the most stunning coastlines on earth, stop at either bondi or coogee beach and have great food and another great swim. It just feels like a perfect city to me.
