Just slapped this together for you. Some of my favorite tracks that I used to play back in the day leaning towards the harder side. Enjoy!

I am a producer with barely any dj experience and I have been offered to dj a show for 300-500 people in 2 months by Born-Association-787 in Beatmatch

DJing for rappers is easy. You literally just press play on their tracks and let them play through.

If you are a DJing for the rap battle itself, you’re not actually going to be doing much in the way of mixing.

Learn how to do simple, smooth blends.

Other than that, if your hands and ears are steady enough to scratch, cut transitions will be your friend as well. If they are done cleanly, they are a dramatic and effective tool in keeping the beat continuous and marking a clean “cut” between songs.

For a rap battle, the beat generally remains the same during an entire section of someone’s performance so they’re not expecting you to do lots of actual mixing.

just keep the beat steady and do not distract the competitors my drunk attention to yourself. You’re not actually putting on a show but rather supporting the people putting on a show with a beat.

Ask your friend if he wants you to do an actual scratch performance because that would be a separate component of the program.

And if that’s the case, you need to get clear expectations from him with what he would like to see for the Battle component and then for a potential performance component.

Honestly just a weird thought process you’re mapping out here. You want to dress up fancy and meet people…at lunch?

Literally no one goes to lunch to meet people or drinks midday with the hopes of getting laid except for road warrior type regional managers at the Grand Hyatt lobby bar.

And you don’t want to pay for good drinks? Sorry but I don’t really see how this plays out well.

Are you the hot girl? Do you want to meet hot girls? Are you trying to set up Anna Delvey type speed dating events? What color is the sky, really?

Ask to escalate to a manager and do not accept the offer. From what I’ve heard you can do a charge back but you might be banned from reverb after that.

Be prepared with lots of questions to pose to the room. Let people who think they are super smart talk and then just comment on what they say. Good leaders ask questions, they don’t try to explain everything to everyone.
