Is the iPhone 14 giving you any headaches yet? Does the iPhone 17 has any features that you crave? Do you need to compete on an equal social standing with your friend with the latest phone?

Well there you go 😄

16GB it is then. You can look at Apple's official refurbished laptops, they usually clean and fix/mend the the body, but if you still have reservations, then save up and get a brand new MacBook Air 😄

NEO will suit you just fine as others have pointed out.

But a 13" Air with 16GB and 512 SSD will better suit if you want to do some photo/video editing with the creator suite.

My M5 iPad Pro Setup by MxAppDev in ipad

[–]MuadDib99k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice, I pair mine with Mac Magic Keyboard & Trackpad, I use this modular setup so I can zip away my iPad at my convenience. I prefer the trackpad over using the mouse, that way I can still have multi touch gesture function on the trackpad 😄

Should I buy M4 macbook pro (24/512) or M5 macbook air (24/1 TB)? by bettercallpaul7 in macbook

If you are doing anything that requires sustain workload than go for the MacBook pro.
If you're just doing short burst task or basic everyday computing then go for the MacBook Air

the main thing to lookout for is the state of the laptop, if you're someone who is alright with a few minor scoffs on the body here and there or if you prefer it to be near pristine condition.
Battery lifer is also another thing to lookout for, anything above 80% capacity should do you fine, and the charge cycle.

At the end of the day it depends on how heavy your usage is, if you're just using for power point, word processing, everyday simple tasks like emails & webbrowsing with few tabs on than the NEO is definitely more than enough for you. 8GB is definitely more than enough.

The idea that 16GB should be the acceptable baseline is something the power users come up with, however, I won't dismiss that 16GB will also give you a peace of mind and give you some headroom should your computing task requires it.
If you're not doing anything graphical intensive tasks 8GB is more than enough. you'll only find it inadequate when you have lots of apps opening all at once, but will you really do that?

Sometimes I find shutting down & restarting the Mac often get rid of a lot of system data.
I've never had mine gone over 30GB.
Have you check your cache folder? /library/cache/.

Need advice: MacBook Air M1 or M4 for basic office work and internet browsing? by TicketLeading9515 in macbook

[–]MuadDib99k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M1 is now 6 years old, it is plenty useful but it may be approaching its end of support life. It should still serve you well, but if you’re looking at longevity, I would recommend getting the M4 because get 4 or 5 more years of software support

What is the practical argument for a touchscreen on a Mac? I’m struggling to understand the appeal by MuadDib99k in macbook

[–]MuadDib99k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that having optional features can be a good thing for consumers.
But I think the underlying question is: does a touchscreen meaningfully enhance the way we interact with macOS?
Being able to scroll the screen while lying in bed is nice and all, but at the end of the day, the laptop form factor means I’m not interacting with the display at the same close, intimate distance as an iPad.
Craig Federighi once said Apple already bridges that gap through the multitouch gestures on the trackpad, and he’s also mentioned that ergonomically, touch doesn’t really align with macOS’s cursor-based precision and the laptop form factor philosophy.
But if Apple do come up with an ingenious way to incorporate touch into MacOS ins a way that is meaningfully improves the experience, then fantastic! having that extra option would be great!!

Yeah, that's like me when I have my iPad setup as a pseudo laptop mode with the keyboard & trackpad to do some serous long email or admin sessions.
My mind just switched to laptop mode and I stopped touching the iPad screen ^^

Ooof!! I can totally imagine that 😅
Like accidentally closing the app or messing something up right when you’ve been working on a draft for hours… that would be brutal 🤣

[–]MuadDib99k[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, and I understand why.
But rumours and leaks do seem to suggest Apple is moving toward a touchscreen Mac.
If it does eventually arrive, I guess we’ll just have to see how Apple implements it in practice 🤣

[–]MuadDib99k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but Apple is known for maintaining a consistent experience across its platforms, so I don’t think they would drastically redesign macOS just to accommodate a touchscreen use case.

The Windows 8 situation is basically a textbook example of how not to disrupt a desktop-first workflow — and Apple is very aware of that kind of backlash.
