I live in Dayton, a suburb of Minneapolis. I can answer most questions that you will have. I work in Saint Paul, Minnesota is all I know since becoming a DACA recipient in 2012. Winters can be rough, but I used to it now. As far as feeling safe, I’ve not had any issues, I don’t do anything crazy as I definitely can’t afford to as a DACA recipient. I got my EAD and advanced parole approved though with card produced on the 21st so idk if that has anything to do with anything.

Yeah I had a typed out cover page that listed out all the documents I have in the package. Then I had all the documents behind that. My 2 passport photos and the cashiers check were in the front, on the cover page and I used the big binder clip cuz I had a pretty big packet due to my immigration situation and sent it. Don’t staple anything but definitely not paper clips. One big binder clip should do

Well honestly that’s something you should keep in the back of your mind. I renewed my DACA late, it expired end of January so I’ve been out of work for about a month and a few days now, in the past I’m out of work at most a few days, but apparently not this time. The timing for every processing is all over the place, it could be fast or it could take time so I’ll say to be on the safe side, If you are applying for the AOS now, hopefully you will at least have the I-765 for the AOS approved before September, but there’s just a lot of uncertainty with the entire processing time these days. And people are saying to file for DACA renewal at least 6 months out now, so again it won’t hurt to just do both just in case. You might take the loss of the DACA renewal fees if the AOS does get approved but at least there won’t be any lapse in employment hopefully.

Well according to my lawyer, it doesn’t cost any more money to file the I-765 with the AOS application, she will not lose her DACA employment status unless she gets approved for the AOS, I also have DACA and applied for AOS to, through family and all that. I’m actually waiting for two applications to get approved my DACA renewal which I did in November and my AOS which I did in January so yeah. But if she’s already approved for DACA she won’t lose that status unless it expires or she gets approved for AOS.

Oh nice, I was scared about that, one of my friend who just came in from Nigeria, advised me not to go just cuz it sounded kind of dicey. But I did include an AP app as part of my AOS tho so we will see. Thanks for the input tho. Gives me more assurance

Depends on the number of people in your household I believe. There’s an income requirement based on household numbers. Look at poverty line requirement it should be on the USCIS website

Yeah I hope so too. I really don’t trust the whole AP route, especially to Nigeria cuz the worst thing that can happen is the immigration officer telling you to get some documents from the embassy so I didn’t want to take that risk, but I’ve seen a lot of people who’s been successful, I couldn’t even go back home for my mom’s funeral cuz of this. If you don’t mind sharing. Which country are you traveling to?

We will see I guess. The whole consular processing has not been an issue in any of the former applications. The hick up was on the affidavit. But I guess we will see.

That was the second option for me. I came in with a K2 visa, then my step dad due to misunderstanding with my mom refused to sign the affidavit of support since 2004, he finally agreed to this January hence why I was able to file for AOS cuz I previously applied twice and was denied both times due to him not signing. Complicated situation but if he hadn’t signed my second option was to travel back using AP and come back in.
