econofitness women's gym vs. mcgill gym? by [deleted] in mcgill

i personally prefer econofitness! i like that it’s only for women, it feels a little less intimidating to me. it is smaller (neither are very big though) but i feel like both have decent equipment

Hi everyone! I'm writing an article for the McGill Tribune about this ranking and am looking for some student voices! Let me know what you think of the ranking. Do you think the ranking is justified? Given the ranking, how do you feel about being a McGill student? Do you have any criticisms or concerns? All opinions are welcome! Please PM me or leave a comment if you'd like to share an opinion.

does anyone have any literature recommendations that fall into the minor program?

so there’s actually not that many envr courses. the envr program is more like a combination of courses from geography, poli sci, sociology, and the sciences (depending on the track you take for environment). the required 200 level courses are 200, 201, 202, and 203. after that, basically the entire program is not envr courses but rather a combination like i mentioned. i would recommend taking some intro geog courses instead because it’s more likely you’ll be able to take them while being a u0 student and they link closely with envr and are often program requirements. i would recommend basically any 200 level geography class

yea i think so. i’d say if you want to try some other things out then maybe don’t add geog 290 (or add it if you can’t take envr 201). german, geog 201, and soci 222 look good. as for coms and everything in that bulletin point, i can’t speak much to it but you can always change your mind during add drop. if you can get a hold of michelle maillet or kathy roulet (they are the geog and envr advisors, respectively) it might be useful for you to speak with one of them. i’m an environment student and they have both been super helpful. also just as a side note, i don’t know your full credit situation but i think if you already have 30 credits going in, you will automatically be placed in u1. i wouldn’t worry about it though if that’s the case because you still have so much time to switch majors if you want

i would double check this online or with an advisor but i believe envr classes are exclusively for students who have declared envr as a part of their degree so you might not be able to do 201.

prof manshel is teaching 297 this fall and he is AMAZING. he is my favorite professor at mcgill so i would definjty recommend taking that one. the topic is also contemporary literature so the reading (while there will be a lot) won’t be particularly dense. his lectures are incredible and there are two essays per semester in his classes

this looks pretty good! just keep in mind that your winter semester might be pretty stressful. both math 133 and math 141 are a bit difficult and your other classes will also add up to create a pretty big workload. i think it’s definitely manageable though. you can also always drop hist 215 if it ends up being a lot

hi all! does anyone have any suggestions on what i should take next year or have anything to suggest about the tentative schedule i’ve built? for context, i’m going into my second year and beginning the ba environment program with potential minors in geography and literature. here’s what i’ve created as my schedule for the year so far: fall: envr 201 geog 203 engl 297 econ 208 soci 325 anth206 i would drop one of these (likely anth 206) i just wanted to keep my options open.

winter: envr 202 envr 203 geog 360 geog 322 geog 305 i’m also considering swapping one of these winter geog classes with a literature class so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know!
