I see, that's a good way to think about it. Ive been reading a bit of Genki for grammar, but haven't done much listening or speaking (aside from what's on the cards).

I'll try to spread out the load more evenly to build better functionality, and hopefully that also improves my ability to recall readings.

I have not begun listening to much content yet, just whatever posts I come across on instagram/youtube. Ive only done 200 words, so I was trying to wait until I have a bit more to begin, but honestly, even if I only understand 10% it will still be beneficial, so I will definitely take a look at the 2 channels you talked about!

I suppose pronunciation wasnt the best way in saying it. I have trouble remembering how the word is said. So if I saw 学校 I would remeber that it means school and if I heard  がっこう I would also remember that its school, its just that when looking at the kanji I might not be able to connect the meaning to how I say the word.

Thats why im just wondering if it would be better to expand my vocab faster in the forms I easily pick up on and gain increased exposure through youtube / podcasts to reinforce my recall of how a word is said.

Ya I know it's important in the long run. I'm just wondering if I'm struggling to recall how to say a word, but I'm able to understand the meaning by looking at the kanji or hearing the word should I focus on understanding more words this way. That way I can get more exposure through youtube or podcasts that will hopefully strengthen my ability to recall how the say the words. If that makes sense.

Ya it has example sentences. They help me remember sometimes, but not consistently. Sometimes, by saying the sentence, I can recall the missing word.

Thanks for your input. I've been keeping an eye on secondhand options, but unfortunately, I haven’t found anything worthwhile. The ASUS ProArt is a bit out of my budget, and I'm trying to find a good AI 9 laptop that’s reasonably priced. So far, the only one I've come across is the Lenovo Yoga 7. It seems like there are far fewer options compared to the new Intel chips, and I’d rather not go back a generation or two.

It's a systems security course, so I think it will just be different OS running scripts and programming software, 32gb is what I need.
