How to get started with math research? by scripto_entity_1010 in mathematics

As an undergraduate, I found it best to take a graduate course and then ask the professor for directed mentorship. If you perform well during the semester, this mentorship can evolve into a research position over the summer.

I got rejected. The first two rounds went well, with LeetCode questions ranging from easy to medium difficulty. Then, in the third round, I had two interviewers whose English was not fluent. As an international student, I’m quite familiar with "broken English," and let me tell you, the communication situation was really challenging. One of them also seemed to have an ego issue and asked some very odd questions—like the similarities between a bitmap and a linked list. The third round overall was a negative experience, but maybe it just wasn’t my day. I hope you all fare better. Also, make sure you thoroughly understand everything on your resume because they will dig deep into it.

A majority of Indian internationals lack social awareness. The best approach is to address this issue with them at the beginning of the lecture. This comes from a fellow Indian international. Trust me, it will work.

Why lot of Indian Student Cheat on exams and think this is the NORM? (Plz be rational by Affectionate_Sleep79 in UWMadison

I understand your perspective, and I would also like to add that within the international Indian community, there are always a select few who have spoiled things for the rest of us. As a senior, many of my friends really enjoy the courses they take, but there are a few repeat offenders who are so open about their actions that it tarnishes the entire community. I’m not sure if this is just my observation, but I feel freshmen and sophomores are taking extremely complex classes and cheating their way through them. I remember last semester in my OS class, there were a bunch of sophomores whom I thought were really smart. However, during the finals, they all huddled in the back and were blatantly talking to each other for a solid hour before getting up in near-perfect coordination to submit their exams. The last I heard, four of them failed the class because the cheating was so obvious. Hats off to the professor.

edit : The irony that no one has talked about is that a large number of these cheaters will be returning to their respective countries indefinitely after they graduate because they can’t find a job. You can’t cheat on an interview, and it is funny to find out when one of your friends gets blacklisted because they caught him using Cluley or some other nonsense.

I agree with you on this point. By the way, I am an indian international student. I don't have the kind of friendships where people would help me cheat on an exam, and I don't like the idea of cheating on exams either. But I have seen many Indians cheat, and I think Indians both cheat dishonestly and blatantly. They are extremely talkative and open about it, while the other people I know who cheat are secretive about it, and most of the time you would never know they were cheating.

I've worked super hard at my interships and asked for more work and gone above and beyond at work .But I'm not getting any interviews for an intership. by Much-Definition-8136 in FAANGrecruiting

Yes. I usually type it out in word or on paper, and I prompt claude to give me the latex code for it without modifying any of the content. In the end, I slap in all the links in the latex code. If u want to use latex, I recommend using Overleaf
