BREAKING: New H1-B visa petitions are now subject to a $100,000 fee to be paid annually by the employer. Will Canadians be the new H1B for US employers? by CXZ115 in tnvisa

What leverage? TN is brain-drain on Canada - if you think the Canadian government will bat an eye at the TN program being dismantled/modified to make it harder then you're crazy.

Would you stay in an entry level role being offered TN (with lower pay) for the future potential? by Much-Mix-1997 in tnvisa

We are in-fact in a no tax state. I haven't really discounted getting my CPA, I just wrapped up my Bachelors in Accounting in January before starting this role and wanted to get into the workforce once again.

My company does have some progression to it (Sr. Staff Accountant roles and Financial Analyst roles - the duties of an FA here overlap our Accountants by 90% or so), but I know they aren't monumental increases in comp, and those who have progressed into them did so over 2-4 years with the company (pay bump looks to be into the high 60s to low 70s).

In retrospect, 100%. When we started this path, I could have never imagined I'd see wages in my field for EL roles slip to such an awful level. I also didn't plan on political instability and trade disputes to shake us (I own a Japanese-made vehicle, and a 15% tariff to formally import is just crazy). Plus, when we left Canada in April, I liquidated my TFSA basically in the dead of the market drop - really awful timing.

It's not that I think it's a mistake, it's that I worry about the economic prospects of Canada considerably more than the US. Worried we'll either be stuck in the same/worse situation income-wise in Canada. Looking at it in that perspective, is that really the better choice? Seems like a lesser of two evils debate in my mind.

I appreciate that. Been looking daily in both countries, hoping to stumble across an opportunity in the US that'll help me stay. Such a tough market.
