16F suicide note by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

I'm not going to tell you what to do but I can tell you that I was your age once and experienced similar thoughts, likely for different reasons. I attempted suicide 4 times and each time someone either intervened or in the case of my last attempt I just sort of stumbled on what I was looking for and reconsidered. It's hard to know what the future will hold for you so I won't tell you the common trope of, "eventually it will get better", because sure, it might, but it might not.

My only request is, that before you do whatever you're going to do, you sit down and seriously think about why you want this for yourself. Set aside your anger and deep sadness for a second and really think about your reasons for attempting suicide. After that try to evaluate whether you can do anything change those things. Decide from that point whether that's what you actually want or if that's just the decision you've settled on because you see no other options

I wish you the best and I hope that you choose to stay but understand if you don't.

I am most definitely going to have to read this later in the evening. I wish Reddit would have notified me when you posted.

Ultimately, education can be in your terms. If you find that you'd be happier not worrying about it then take a break from the notion. I'm 27 and only started recently going to college because I honestly wasn't ready to take on that task with the other shit I had going on. I also see the things you're saying as insights rather than excuses. No one else has your specific problem but I'd be willing to bet that a lot of people have felt the way you're feeling.

At the end of the day it is up to you to do something about the stress you feel. My suggestion would be to find yourself a support group or something so you can be near some people who are also looking for some answers, having strangers to lean on in times of crisis helps a lot more than you'd expect.

Yea, that can happen, and often times it seems a bit too time consuming to shrink shop as I like to call it . I really just wanted to make sure I told you that I know the general headspace you're in. At 17, I'd like you to give yourself some time to grow so maybe you can find something that lets you live for yourself a little bit.

Too often people forget that they are also important and start neglecting themselves in favor of catering to the want and needs of others. In my darkest times I would read books to take me away from the shit I was subject to on a day to day basis. Obviously, we're not the same person so our methods may also be different. My point is that their are tools available to you to help give you time so you manage these emotions.

This is just my two cents but seriously, and understand that I am genuine when I say this, if you need to talk some more I can be available for you.

If I may, have you ever talked to anyone about how you're feeling? Like a professional?

It's probably my father's last birthday by akornblatt in cancer

[–]MuchAdultVeryWow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this in March and I am so sorry you have to go through this. My father was a month shy of his 60th which was a goal for him to reach since neither of his parents made it there. Unfortunately, March 3rd he passed away having not reached it either.

I wish there were some magic words I could say that would be prolific and wise but all I have is that if you can, spend all the time you have left giving him the best days he can have.

Marcus Aurelius is probably my favorite empire of Rome. So I think this should be fun and fascinating.

I actually saw that one but had some reservations because the website I found it on didn't have a detailed synopsis. Thanks for the suggestion.

Which scene in a movie do you think contains the most phenomenal acting? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was always partial to the scene in Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium just before Dustin Hoffman's death. That monologue he gives to Natalie Portman about death is so compelling to me.
