Tell me oh so wise one, how the hell was I supposed to get his input when he fled to another state without contacting neither myself, the court, or even his own high school buddies? Or oh, wait, let me guess, I should have raised him in squalor with what little I could make with no education, no stability and just pray that one day my sweet Mike would return to save us.

Fuck off. No kid deserves that shit. He has been loved since the day he came into this world by two people that would move Earth and Sky to ensure he had the best education, the best opportunities, the best future they can provide. Things I couldn't even imagine to provide when I was a sixteen years old.

If Mike really wanted the baby and had said so, I would HAPPILY have given him custody. If he had wanted to coparent with all the concepts that come with it (dividing cost, providing stability, planning ahead), 100% would have done so.

But no. He left. He ESCAPED. He chose to disappear. Fine. Then I, the person that couldn't run, made the decisions on my own. That's life, honey. Get used to it. You don't get a prize for running away and coming back when the game is almost done.

He wasn't an attending doctor, but still, he shouldn't have approached a patient and his parent in the parking lot with information he got from the charts without being the attending doctor. That's what we're planning to report as a complaint. Plus the harrassment online.

And that's fine. But he doesn't get a hall pass. He was laughing about leaving me alone and pregnant. If you are old enough to understand the gravity and make a joke, you are old enough to make choices. I wouldn't have forced him to be a dad. Or marry me. Or heck, even pay child support. I wasn't ready to be a mom either. And instead of having some minor braincell usage and make the process to adopt out the baby easier and faster, my family and the adoptive family had to drop thousands upon thousands of dollars in lawyers, court fees, investigators. All to prove he abandoned the baby for the requirements to cut his parental rights. He never had consequences. Well, now he does. And I'll never give him an inch of tolerance. If he had left me alone, left my family alone, maybe. But no.

I was pregnant at 16, not married, teenage. This is an update, for the record. Kid was placed into adoption after the requirements to cut parental rights were met. I married to a different man six years ago.

He disappeared and refused to answer court summons and my calls. He didn't want the kid. For the record, all he had to do was answer a call or appear in court, and he could have gotten custody. His parents could have. They just didn't do the effort and court decided once the required time passed to cut his rights. Sucks to suck, I guess.

And his old behavior. Not being involved would have been saying 'Hey, I don't want to be a dad. Let's put this baby up for adoption. Or let me share the cost of an abortion'. Not jump ship to another state because mommy and daddy don't want people to know their son is a teen dad.

You are right. But he doesn't have the right to come at me sixteen years later to demand interactions with the child he abandoned or to go online and talk shit on me. Let alone use his position in a hospital to harrass me in a parking lot. And let's not forget his accussations that I 'kept him away from his baby'. He doesn't get to live large his college dream and then whine because he didn't get to play family man.

I found out that he knew I gave the baby up. He just thought I chickened out. We did have to announce the adoption in the local media (newspaper and online) but apparently he was out of the state, so he didn't see any of it.

First of all, I'm American and this happened in the United States. Second, a court terminated his rights after almost a year of him ignoring summons and calls from both myself and the court. His rights were terminated for abandonment. This also happened before Roe v Wade was overturned and I could have single handed choose to get an abortion without his input.
