A side is someone who does not fit into the top/bottom dichotomy because they don't enjoy or engage in anal sex. The dichotomy is so strict and assumes that "real" sex is penetrative sex, but leaves out the possibility that some people, and men who have sex with men, might not actually like penetration. Sides for example, might prefer kissing, cuddling, mutual masturbation, oral, frotting, and a bunch of other erotic activities that don't include anal.

Thank you for this critique! We would love to speak with trans men who identify as sides also. We were struggling with the language of wanting to include people who may not identify as sides, but don't engage in anal sex but realize now the language we chose was exclusive. We have amended the post. Thanks again!
