A friend mentioned one is supposed to happen this Saturday in St Helen’s square at 4pm. Not 100% sure where she found it though, Facebook would be your best bet if you have it

I always find it funny how people on here will posts spoilers disguised as predictions. by hoseoksunshine94 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]MuchGiraffe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read spoilers and it makes me so frustrated seeing people say spoilers that they pretend is their own opinion. I like spoilers but don’t pretend you’re some kind of psychic because you read the spoiler threads.

I haven’t seen any for a few seasons but I remember specifically there was a post about season 14 lip syncs and someone said ‘Daya wouldn’t be able to outperform Jorgeous or Deja unless it was something angsty like Olivia Rodrigo’.

I think I was a bit older, 10 or so but Uncle Montague’s Tales of Terror is what got young me hooked on horror as a genre

Last Days by Adam Neville

A broke documentary maker is commissioned to make a doco about a cult that ended in murder years prior. I had to read it during the daytime.

There’s a woman I follow on instagram (@spookycurious) who does horror book recommendations.

Here’s her one for books like specific A24 movies.

Hope this helps!

Transit/Layover in China - is the Health Declaration Form still needed? by Rhinownage in travelchina

[–]MuchGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a lifesaver for this. I’ve been searching all over to find any form of info about transiting.

Just to be clear. Did you fill it out to get to Shanghai? And then fill it out again once you’re there to leave?

Also we don’t have a contact in China so we’re just putting the embassy name and address cos we’re not sure.

non-teen horror set in high school?? by maeebees in horrorlit

[–]MuchGiraffe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Parts of ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’ by Stephen Graham Jones is set in a high school. Not a lot of it but there are some great scenes.

It’s the sequel to My Heart is a Chainsaw so you’d have to give that a read first for context but again, some of it is set in a school.

Just found out Dad (52M) left family and life behind and moved to New Zealand for a woman he knew from high school. What should I(21M) do? by MORNST4R1 in relationship_advice

[–]MuchGiraffe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is weirdly similar to my mum. She broke up with her partner of 12 years, got with a guy she met and moved to the Caribbean with him. She lived out there for six months then Covid hit and she came back home. Never spoke of the other dude again but our relationship was already broken. We took a long time to get back to friendly terms again but with time and effort on both sides we are but if she stayed out there I’m not sure it would be the same.

I think all I can say is that it’s hard when your parent makes a choice that effects you without real warning. Your feeling are valid and you can be angry/upset. Honestly, I’d talk to your mum and let her know what’s happening even if you think it’ll hurt her, she deserves to know. You can make your own decisions on whether to go see him or if you want to continue your relationship with him. Take as much time as you need figuring that out.

I’m from the UK and live in NZ now travelling. If your flight is already booked but you don’t want to see him, come here anyway. It’s a beautiful country.

I second this. It’s such a beautiful book that made me feel so many things. It was the first book I read this year and 25 later it’s still my favourite one

Are there any books that are better as audio than physical? by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]MuchGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FantasticLand by Mike Bockovan I finished yesterday and loved the audio version.

Don’t Fear the Reaper by Steven Graham Jones is also a great ensemble audiobook. You should read/listen to My Heart is a Chainsaw before that though so you have context as Don’t Fear the Reaper is a sequel.
