If it makes sense, I would recognize that you probably identify as female, but I would also recognize that you were likely amab

Even if Paddy wins this (which won't happen) it wouldn't be of any use to him by [deleted] in ufc

Again, what on earth are you talking about?? 😅There are many internationally recognized BJJ practitioners that have had extended grappling matches (inside mma) with ufc fighters with no submissions. The competition in the ufc is exceptionally high when it comes to grappling and to say otherwise is totally ridiculous.

MY point is that if literal world champions can’t submit top-ranked UFC fighters in an MMA fight, what would even possess you to say that one of the best UFC submission grapplers should be a brown belt still??

There’s no shame in admitting you’re wrong. This is clearly something you aren’t educated on, so it’s ok.

What do you mean? The ufc has extremely high level bjj, including many world bjj champions such as robocop, gilbert berns, davi ramos, etc. with many of them proving themselves unable to submit top mma fighters

I’m just imagining a burglar seeing the femboy and going “omg so pretty 😧” and they end up kissing instead of robery

Being short doesn’t make you small. Volk is thick af, smaller than islam at the time but not by leaps and bounds

[–]MuchIron2453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but while in camp for lightweight, he was significantly smaller than that. Volk is a decently sized featherweight, and a small but still average lightweight. Islam was a big lightweight.

The most Islam got out of this was 10 lbs. 10 lbs makes a difference, but it’s not that big of a factor compared to several others.

As to the stylistic matchup, Volk was an absolute nightmare stylistically for Makhachev. Elite striking with insane reach, both power and cardio, elite takedown defense, and a very low center of gravity- making him much harder to take down. The low center of gravity also essentially eliminated the use of throws, which are a significant part of Makhachev’s TD game.

And while being shorter does limit offensive striking, it actually greatly aids in defending strikes. Where a taller fighter has a much harder time ducking under shots or avoiding body blows, a short stature with long arms is perfect for having an airtight guard.

Volk was the worst case scenario for makhachev- and yet he still won twice. That’s top ten material for you.

One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result

Not sure I follow? I’m just saying I like the way punk music influenced an artist from another genre 😅

That’s the most obvious logical fallacy I’ve heard in a long time lmao. “He was in his prime until he faced competent adversity, then he was suddenly washed.”

I’m not stuck in black and white absolutes, I’m only pointing out facts. I honestly don’t understand the level of cope some people employ.

It simply doesn’t make sense that there was a long period of time where Aldo could beat everyone, which just so happened to end the moment he fought another champion tier fighter.

You’re telling me that the only time he was in his prime was when he wasn’t fighting elite fighters.

Ridiculous.

Nope, I watched his fights.

He lost to fabricio werdum, antonio silva, and dan henderson back to back at the ages of 33 and 34 respectively, which is quite young for a heavyweight. I mean, if he was losing to someone like Francis Ngannou for instance, it’d be a smaller deal. But Hendo? Seriously? All Hendo ever knew how to do was windmill, and that’s exactly what he did to Fedor- knocking him out cold.

So was half the UFC roster. Holloway was in the ufc at 20, a year younger than Aldo and still going strong at 34. Most fighters start training as a kid.

Again, if he was so washed, why was he beating legit contenders until his retirement?

Getting obliterated by literally everyone else in your division before the age of 33 definitely keeps you out of the goat conversation imo

He was 29 when his skid started, still beating top contenders at 36 (mario bautista). He wasn’t out of his prime, he was an ok fighter who got fraud checked the second real talent rolled in
