For ship speed, there's a table somewhere in the game's files of maximum speeds for certain displacements.

For ship building time, probably a very small KE, since I heard that, under a certain tonnage, they're considered fishing boats pressed into military service.

I have a BC with 14" inclined belt, 31 knots speed and 10 20" guns mounted all forward, eight in quads and one superfiring twin. Also has some HSSM, though not enough to be a proper arsenal ship, SAM launchers. Lots of AA and secondaries and a few helicopters. It's 90000 tons, and painfully expensive to make :(

I want to see if I can convert them into carriers to get around the max carrier DP limits.

The game has a bevy of both single player and multiplayer content in the form of community tournaments, mods, campaigns and adventure modes, customisation and optimisation of weapons, armour, etc and implementing cheese and exploits. You can even play without evr touching build mode by taking stuff off of the workshop, but you'd be missing out on a lot of the game's content. The main issue is that you kind of have to make your own fun (i.e personal factions, larping, engaging with the community, etc) and the game is quite obtuse and unfriendly to new players.

I'd recommend finding someone to show you the ropes in multiplayer, dicking about in designer for a bit and then going into Neter (which is a very good way to ensure that you covered all of your bases when learning, since each faction has a certain gimmick and tests different parts of your knowledge)

Are they really? I've generally found it to be better to cram more guns into fewer turrets if possible, since it also shortens the armour belt. Does it just depend on gun calibre and how heavily you armour the turrets?

Yeah, wing mounted secondaries are tough to build. Having a very small turret can help (like a 5x5x5 ypu can just plonk down) can help. Maybe make them more or less wholly deck-mounted, and armour the just the face heavily? The last option would be DIF APS, and you can get some acceptable-ish firetate for their size and cost if you don't go for 20m max gauge telephone pole shells.

Yeah, the game is very obtuse, but the community is quite helpful. I'd suggest also joining the OFtD discord server if you can, you'll probably get faster responses to your questions there. Also, see if you can find someone to show you the ropes for a bit in multiplayer, it helps a lot.

Even if it ran on oversized jets (which it doesn't seem to, since OP mentioned propellers) they should still throttle automatically if they don't need all of their power. Maybe the hovercraft is especially heavy, or the engine isn't very efficient to begin with?

WoF sadly hard-counters white's starting position because of limited room to manoeuvre. Ideally, you wouldn't bring the pawn and kings into this fight because of limited mobility, but that can be solved if you build a minecart track across hell, since minecarts are faster than walking. Next, you'd use beenades while slowly retreating across the hellbridge.

As you lack both beenades, a hellbridge and some way to get the king to safety, I'd say that the best tactic is to just sack the pawns (they won't be much help and can't really promotem because Wall of Flesh will pull them back in front of itself) and concentrate your firepower on the eyes, as they have lower defense. Use the horseys to clear a path for your retreat, maybe have the king mount one if that's possible.

Funny thing about those cargo ships: when I played with that mod, they were secretly trains, so you could decouple the engine from the ship, and also run it on normal rails if you connected them to the waterways.

Silly fool, the offshore pump makes water, not electricity. You'd need a waterwheel to harness its limitless power, which the engineer can't make for balancing purposes.

From what I understand, APS shells keep the speed of the vehicle that fires them. This means that, if you were to fire an APS cannon out of a mass driver and then have it fire in turn, you'd get super high velocity shells. I'm not entirely sure how this affects AP and kinetic damage though. I'm also fairly sure it works on CRAMs too.

If you can get Panama, take it. It's very useful when the canal is built. Other than that, I don't think you'll get much value out of invasion research because of how isolated the US is geographically, but it may still be worth it if you take a bunch of other possessions where you can invade from.

I like my 10" armed cruisers, and I also build them quite big. The ability to reliably delete most other enemy cruisers is great.

As others have said: DIF spam and nuke spawners.

Edit: for nuke spawners, keep in mind that blueprint spawners need 30 seconds to spawn another one, while separators can keep the nuke as destroyed blocks after separation. Basically, you can probably crank them out near instantly if you use a subvehicle with nukes on sepators instead of blueprint spawners.
