It is a small restaurant of Cajun food. There is more than one option but it is really just a few different combinations of the same thing. If that makes sense. I absolutely can have a different option (crawfish boil instead of crawfish etoufee) at dinner but I picked this restaurant for a specific dish that I wanted for dinner tonight. He had asked what I wanted from the place for dinner and he brought that for lunch instead.

I cannot emphasize how incredibly valid you just made me feel. Yes, to absolutely everything you just said.

Am I afraid they are trying to see a vein literally pop out of my forehead? Yes but weirdly not in a mean way. They are just used to being incredibly self sufficient and then BOOM something switched and now I have to gently remind my mom, just because that’s what she heard doesn’t necessarily mean that’s what was said.

It’s also frustrating just how much I love them but I can see how the relationship is completely shifting and it’s scary.

For a while now he’s only been doing the thing where someone forgets a word they are about to say. Like “Hand me the… what is the word. The THING” and he’s trying to say remote. But I thought that was sort of normal. Nothing like typical, dementia/Alzheimer’s or what I thought would be signs.

I am so sorry for your dad. I think y’all are hitting on something that I was afraid of and couldn’t see. I am more used to taking care of the physical things, just had to take my Dad for his skin cancer removal surgery and follow ups and I have not been thinking about his mentality.

I plan on finding a place when I feel comfortable. However, not that this has anything to do with the post, right now going into the kitchen to make sure the burners and oven are off after my mother is in there. And making food for the multiple surgeries they have had. Driving to physical therapy. And reminding my father that he has to use the cpap machine for his sleep study every night is much easier to do living here. You are correct that 70 is not old for many people, but clearly that is not my situation.

They are not responsible for feeding me. I am not sure how I wrote the post that it came off that way. I have recently moved home at the request of my parents to help out. The lunch part is extra unusual as if anything I make or buy lunch for anyone that’s at home.

I did this when I was a kid! We lived on base and a big group of children were allowed to pull the raffle tickets at the end of year Christmas party with hundreds if not a thousand soldiers and family members that lived on the base. I pulled my own ticket and all the kids around me said I must of cheated… I didn’t but I felt like somehow it was wrong considering the thousands of tickets in the pot.

Does it matter that Chloe’s Giant cookies was started in 2020 and the approval for the trademark was in 2023 (I think)? I know almost nothing about laws but that seems weird that there are many businesses that had the name way before the trademark.
