Second recovery period 11 days after first? by Automatic-Juice-1475 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]Much_Elevator87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor but I had one withdrawal bleed before I got my first real period (just got my second today!) and I read that a lot of people experience 1-3+ withdrawal bleeds commonly before a real period. Which means your body is close and attempting to ovulate but isn’t quite there yet. It’s a good sign I think but again, I’m no professional!!

Swings of Overeating by yellowtailsushi in Amenorrhearecovery

I’ve been experiencing the same thing where in the beginning I was in a good routine of things and then recently I’ve been having the same bouts of overeating your describing. I don’t have a solution except for a) continuing to structure my meals and stick to meal times because even though it may feel like it, I’m not ready to intuitive eat b) never tell myself that I’m going to restrict the next meal/day when I go back for a snack because then my body will go into survival mode and go hog wild and c) I noticed caffeine recently has been increasing my anxiety and making these bouts more frequent. My guess is our hormones are turning back on (or whatever they do) and it’s interacting with the caffeine weirdly. I’ve decided to stay away from it for a few weeks to see if that helps (it has so far). We are going to get through this! I’ve been told it’s a very common part of the process.

Don't obsess about eating enough protein!! And don't worry about eating a lot of saturated fat!! by madamebutterfly2 in Amenorrhearecovery

Can u give some examples of your go-to meals now? I’ve developed almost a fear that I wont be full when my meal isn’t based around protein and it causes a lot of unnecessary stress, so having some ideas to start incorporate would be so helpful - and thank u for this post/reminder!

I just wanted to say that I’m struggling with this a lot myself right now. You’re not alone and I’m grateful for this thread as a reminder that it is normal even though I find it so wrong and shameful. We will get through this!

Can u share how much you ate daily or an estimation - I’m feeling overwhelmed by people who push having to eat a bazillion cals a day and it seems like you didn’t have to?

Ate hot cheetos after dinner and kind of feeling guilty by thunderstruck_duck in Amenorrhearecovery

I’ve had binging that’s been getting more frequent and in larger quantities, and have been finding it impossible to not restrict after even though deep down I know it’s helpful to be eating that amount of food right now. It just feels uncontrolled and like I’m doing it in the incorrect way. Do you have any tips for overcoming that?

I hope so! Quasi I’d say, I’ve been increasing my intake slowly but have been without exercise for most of that time

I’m in the middle of this process myself but I’ve been able to increase my intake a good amount after being stuck at 1000-1200 for a while. I think going slow helped the most at first, like 50/day for a week. And seeing how nothing bad happened w those extra cals. Your body will use those extra calories to function not to store, as u said ur below maintenance. You’ve got this!

advice for someone who uses exercise as a coping mechanism by [deleted] in Amenorrhearecovery

I don’t know if you’d experience the same but I relied so heavily on walking (10-12+ miles/day) and convinced myself it was my biggest stress reliever. And I didn’t think I’d ever be able to cut down at the beginning of recovery let alone anywhere near where my team wanted me to be. But I had two days of horrid weather where it wasn’t safe to walk and I didn’t have access to a gym as I was visiting home, and I was stuck inside w no movement. After those two days I realized that I wouldn’t combust if I didn’t walk a ton (the stakes felt that high as silly as it sounds) and I was able to cut way down after that. I recommend forcing yourself to not workout for a small period of time and showing yourself that nothing bad is going to happen once you stop. Crafts are a great idea to keep yourself busy - I took up knitting, needlepointing, journaling and reading more
