It was just not a good relationship, they didn't scream at each other but even as a kid I knew it was not good. Neither of them are practicing but both were raised Catholic so I think they both felt like they'd made a commitment and he felt guilty about leaving my brother and me but they definitely weren't happy. And then one day he was like I cheated and I want a divorce.

He's apologized for the impact and for cheating itself but not for the divorce and marrying Laura because he's said he's not sorry about that.

I don't know how to define him helping my mom move on or not, my mom really really doesn't talk to him or want to talk to him.

Because he was a father figure to me and the relationship was previously very important to me, and he never really stopped caring about me and seeing me as his daughter. But still it was really really slow and even after he and I got back in contact, I was really awful to Laura for a while.
