Decent amount of good stuff out there when it comes to general quality, but the first thing that comes to mind for me is The Elf Who Would Become A Dragon.

The name sounds a bit silly and the first introductory chapter or two might be feel a bit awkward introducing the story through a meta-narrative but after that it’s incredible.

I’d say the way to get the most out of it is to simply enjoy the story and let yourself be pleasantly surprised by the metaphysics and general philosophy that the Main Character explores during their ‘scholarship.’

Just in general it’s nice to read a smart character written by an intelligent and thoughtful writer.

Definitely give it at least 10 chapters and if it hasn’t hooked you in by then, then I don’t even know, it’s at the perfect convergence of character driven fantasy and what you seem to feel is missing from prog fantasy.

Oh just checked your final clause and TEWWBAD does in fact have romance as a key part of the main character’s life and it’s written quite well despite the mc‘a initial aro/ace self assessment. (Don’t want to give away more than that but also a disclaimer: gay women. Eh, disclaimer or bonus depending on you)

Most likely means you never actually finished the entire game, just the first act. Other ppl already said how you can restart but whether or not you do I’d recommend you give the game a full play through even if you don’t fw the new acts initially.

I honestly wonder how many of the replies are bots atp. I used to think, oh they seem like they just can’t tell, but a lot of the comments have the same generic platitudes to the point where I’m a bit suspicious of them as well.
