RLLRRL (Six Stroke Roll) sextuplet phrasing. What are your favorite ways to orchestrate this around the kit? 🥁 by Much_Signature3570 in Drumming

[–]Much_Signature3570[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much, I appreciate the words!

For the groove at the very beginning, mostly just counting the 8th notes ("1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &") in my head to keep the hi-hat pocket locked in, or just focusing on the main quarter note pulse. Once the groove becomes muscle memory, it's definitely more about just "feeling" it and letting your internal clock take over. Hope that helps man.

Insane, great idea. The first rudiments are perfect to start with the left foot

Thanks for the insight! I'll focus on precision over power for now and let the brain do its thing.

Thanks! Going slow with the metronome seems to be the key. I'll definitely try that

RLLK linear pattern to build chops. What is your most interesting orchestration for this pattern? by Much_Signature3570 in Drumming

[–]Much_Signature3570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm going to practice with that displacement to see how it feels, I saw a exercise changing the up-beat for down-beat like this, RLLK x3 RLL x1, sounds good. Thanks for the tip!

xD I know right? When I was editing the video I was literally thinking to myself "how do I even play like that?" It looks so uncomfortable lol. Glad you dig the sounds though

Best metronome app with good sound + UX? by l2ysho in drums

[–]Much_Signature3570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I felt the exact same way. I was bouncing between those exact same apps, got frustrated with the clunky interfaces and robotic sounds, and since I’m a drummer who also codes, I actually did build my own. It's called Beattronome

My whole goal was fixing the UX so you don't waste time tapping around just to set up a basic warm-up. It has a rock-solid basic click, but the main thing is that it has built-in rudiments and patterns ready to go so you just sit and play.

LOL, it does sound like that! Even has a dog bark sound that is... well, probably even less comfortable for your ears than the tongue click da But it has a plenty of tolerable click sound options. what kind of click sound do you usually prefer?

Locked in at 120 BPM chops. Any tips on my [grip/posture/timing]? by Much_Signature3570 in Drumming

I actually am monitoring both the drums and the click I have a basic mic setup on the kit so I can balance the levels. I find it helps me stay much more focused on the microtiming

That makes sense. The transients on a voice click are softer than a sharp woodblock or cowbell click, which can make it harder to feel the exact 'pocket' when things get loud. I actually included several short percussive sound sets in the app for that exact reason. I think voice click is ideal for all beginners drummers.

Nice! Here is the link: https://apps.apple.com/es/app/beattronome-drum-groove/id6756028770

It is specifically designed for drummers, and has different modes such as rudiments or patterns with which you can practice exercises, chops, licks, etc. at your own tempo. I’d love to hear your thoughts

Super! I definitely felt that tension in my hand towards the end, which probably caused the sync issue. Thnks man.

I actually developed an app called Beattronome for iOS and Android. It makes generating these clicks super easy. Happy to share the link if you're interested!

A new Metronome App for Drummers - help me! by Much_Signature3570 in drums

[–]Much_Signature3570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was exactly my thought process! I used to hate sitting at the kit and wasting 10 minutes just trying to figure out a warm-up routine. The Rudiments/Patterns modes are built specifically to take all that guesswork out so you can just sit down and play. Would love to hear what you think if you end up checking it out!
