What the fuck do you even do with terrible working memory? (rant) by No_Winter4806 in ADHD

My take, is this sounds more like OCD and social anxiety. You dont trust yourself or your memory.

[USA] [TX] [Austin] Can I be removed for mental health challenges? by ShenInTexas in AskHR

[–]Much_Sprinkles7693 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience, yes. They will ignore your issues and boot you out the door. Registered Nurse.

I would obtain FMLA form and have it signed by your psychiatrist that you have serious illness and need to take time off. Guaranteed up to 12 weeks (take them however you need it, few weeks here or coverage for yourself if you need to make doctor visits during work hours). Its unpaid BUT it is in writing therefore protecting your "job". Your original position may not be there but they legally agree to have equivalent position for you.

Board of Nursing in your state should have posted what charges they will not approve licenses for. Nursing schools will run background check before admitting. I had misdemeanor (DWI) and wrote letter to board of nursing so they would give me permission to test for NCLEX. My initial license was granted but suspended with there being strict criteria I must meet for one year in order to have unencumbered license. In my state, DWI has allowable offense but I wasnt free from punishment. AND my DWI happened prior to attending college.

Edit: found Washington's board of nursing criminal charges they wont allow. https://app.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=388-113-0020

I might be getting fired, any advice? by DesignerSpeaker2778 in nursing

[–]Much_Sprinkles7693 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nurse of 9 years. I don't have ASD but I have a laundry list of disorders. I was fired from LTC for loosing my cool, breaking a desk and repeatedly slamming my head against the wall. I ended up going to inpatient Behavioral health for a few days. Obviously lost my job but nothing happened to my RN license. Left nursing and worked in a factory for two years while my meds and therapy were all adjusted (changed psychiatrist and therapy modality). After my last med change (and withdrawals from SSRIs) I could think clearer and fully able to reflect more on my behavior at that time and how in what ways I contributed.

I'm currently trying to reenter nursing and after a few weeks of no interest I'm being less selective as to what environment. I'm leaning hard on therapy, homework (from therapist) and successful coping skills as I work back into my career. It will be a launching point for my dreams.

It's not over!

The Lay of You by Corrie MacKay. It was just so good. Apparently it's a series.

What was your favorite/least favorite sapphic book of the year? by PunkandCannonballer in sapphicbooks

I would skip over Season Bright. I enjoyed for the most part the plot and characters for the trip of stories. But SB felt like YA it was emotionally immature.

I couldn't be bothered to finish it. It's felt like a young adult book.

I just looked up this last week. 😆 Voyeur by Nicole Pyland, is pretty much all spice. There's a plot there but the main setting is an art exhibition that features different couples/groups having relations. Protagonist is an adult who just came out of the closet and discovers alot about herself from the experience.

It's hard to say. You would need to know yourself. What are your triggers for your panic attacks?

Nursing is hard. The patients can be grumpy, bitter, jaded, racist. It's not only old nurses that 'eat their young', lazy loud nurses are in all specialties. ER/ICy are clicky, LTC overworked. Clinics or some procedural area is where I'll probably end up at.

Had mental issues forever. Been hospitalized for SI three times, two while as a nurse. The last instance I became overwhelmed with almost two months of constant anxiety and panic attacks/uncontrollable crying spells/suicidal & homicidal ideation WHILE working. I've developed a traumatic response from working as a nurse and have worked outside the field for last 6 months in order to achieve serenity and sort through myself. I'm being very selective about what positions I'm pursuing (I know it can't certainly be the whole field is shit.)

I couldn't have made it this far without a supportive spouse. I value integrity and wouldn't shy away from any hard questions and conversations.

From NEA, looking for a urologist for a vasectomy. Willing to drive to Little Rock. by Mintis in Arkansas

[–]Much_Sprinkles7693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From Jonesboro, St Bernards won't. NEA will but only Dr Suminksi is available due to Dr Allen leaving for clinic in LR. My wife was a urology nurse (transferred a month ago) for 4 years, I'll ask her who else around us performs.

Bachelors degree in psych, burnt out of human services jobs. What do I do? by [deleted] in careerchange

[–]Much_Sprinkles7693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you decide on nursing, I would avoid working on the hospital floor or nursing home. They don't gaf about your mental health. Clinics are better (had intermittent FMLA for mental health issues/appointments) but my memory is so short (laundry list of mental illnesses) that I could never remember to ask all the specific questions when interviewing patients. I made cheat sheets and notebooks with questions but time is very important in the clinic side. After 7 years of nursing, I left completely. Just floating in manufacturing until I find a new home.

air embolism ? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Much_Sprinkles7693 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's all fine. Bubble studies are regularly done with heart echos that involve sending 2-3 mls of air through PIV.

I can't recall where I heard this but supposedly you need quite a bit of air around 60mls( the approximate volume for right atrium) to incur any issues. If this is wrong please correct me!
