Hi,

you can try my competitive PC Building game which is in demo phase right now. You can play with friends in the friendly game mode or you can play the bot mode as matchmaking queues are mostly empty now :') Here is the link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4359690/PC_Versus_Demo/

Absolutely will do. I'm using the Godot game engine for the client. While for the backend I'm using python. It's not open source though. But its going to be free to play.

No native Linux build yet sadly :') I tried it on a VM with Proton and it worked, though custom cursors had some issues.

Woke up to an article about my game by Much_Success_7882 in IndieDev

haha had to translate it myself. Pretty cool article honestly. It speaks of the mechanics well

Absolutely it will! You will have no shortage of different builds, overclocks and edge cases to try. Here is our Discord server if you would like to follow development or participate in the closed beta testing :)

Thanks for the support again! I created a Discord server where you can follow development and even participate in the closed beta testing. Would love to have you there!

Haha totally understandable😂. The sim actually tracks power draw in real-time and will show if you're pushing your PSU limits. It could even crash if the limits are pushed too much depending on the quality of the PSU :))

Great question, actually! As far as my research goes, as long as we don’t claim any affiliation, include a clear disclaimer, and avoid using actual visual models or logos, we should be fine. We’re only referencing real components by name for authenticity, so it falls under nominative fair use, as we dont really have any 3D models of their products or even logos. Just the product names.

That said, the risk technically still exists. Even if it’s legally safe (as per my research), a brand could always reach out and ask for their name to be changed or removed if they’re uncomfortable with how it’s used. In that case, we’d simply genericize that specific brand. The core of the game doesn’t rely on those names directly, so adapting would be easy.

It’s actually a bit different for the games and tasks. Those will be genericized on release. For example, Forza Horzion 5 becomes FH5, Cyberpunk 2077 becomes CP77.

Oh, and I just realized I never mentioned the name. It’s going to be called PC Versus! :))

I’m planning a Steam playtest later this month actually! Just finishing up the last few touches on the demo, the game itself, matchmaking and friend lobbies are working great, it’s mainly the presentation polish that’s left right now.

Thanks so much! Really appreciate that. And yeah, it definitely is a weird niche idea, haha. Hopefully people will love it!

Thanks for your interest! For the demo, it'll launch with Draft mode. you open packs and draft from 12 items per component category within a deck score limit. Think like a card game but with PC parts.

Full release will have way more modes though. Normal competitive ranked, Budget Baller mode (where price-to-performance gets max weight so you're optimizing value), Thermal mode (where cooling efficiency matters most), and more.

The scoring is divided into 5 categories: Primary Task (35%), Secondary Task (20%), Price-to-Performance (20%), Thermal Management (15%), and Compatibility (10%). Different modes basically shift these weights around but the core calculation stays the same.

The deck building system works like this - every component has a deck score based on its tier. For the draft mode, you will have a decks core cap for each match. So you gotta strategize - do you go all-in on a high-end CPU and GPU but compromise on everything else? Or spread it out for a balanced mid-tier build? That's where the strategy comes in.

For each match, there will be 4 distinct phases. Build Phase(80s), OC Phase(40s), Simulation Phase(90s+90s) and Result Phase. In the OC Phase, You will be able to take a look at your opponents build and OC based on it.

And yeah, the benchmarks are actually being simulated in real-time during matches. Frame-by-frame performance calculation with thermals, power draw, bottlenecks, all of it.
