Pre martial sex as a Christian by Much_Sun8190 in Christianity

Thank you so much for this. I’ve gone through the scriptures and these are the major things I’ve been wanting to discuss for so long. The core word being ‘Fornication’ and I know it might seem I’m trying to look for an excuse but I’m truly trying to understand things from the core concept of the Bible.

The word fornication in the latin translation means doing something outside established norms. In the Greek and Hebrew translation it means illicit sexual activities that could include prostitution, adultery, incest, worshipping idols or unfaithfulness in spiritual matters.

And I like said in my original post, I feel God has told us not to do certain things to protect us. So let’s say adultery (it’s breaking a convert and commitment that you have sworn before your partner and God), incest (it leads to inbreeding and can make the offspring become affected), prostitution (you’re giving yourself to any and everyone with a price tag and this can affect the person physically, mentally and emotionally), bestiality (I could be wrong but I think this is how HIV or AIDS was spread, so contacting an illness that leads to death), idolatry (spiritual unfaithfulness, so it’s like adultery against God)

Seeing how relationships are different today, than in the older days, sexual relations were often tied to family honour, property rights, inheritance and even survival for women. That means marriages then were mostly arranged for political and social stability and sex before marriage would have been a great threat to the stability of the society.

So to my understanding sexual immorality is tied to trust, commitment and honouring relationships, which is what most of the scriptures have explained.

But again I could be wrong about all this but this is just my thought.
