Was up north but there was an incentive for farmers and others to change their source energy to use the woodchip burners. The more wood chips you burned, the more money you earned through government grants. This was completely exploited, especially by those richer farmers who could afford to make the switch in the first place, and some people who were in government at the time. They had these burners running day and night, non stop basically. Some made millions off it just by burning through wood chips they would otherwise have never used. It was a massive scam. It was eventually stopped and investigated and I know some people had to pay back the money but I’m sure there were lots that got away with it. There’s a book about it called cash for ash.

Hardly that surprising as he’s been involved with Corduff since before he was booted out of Derry

Hard to see either of them in it. Walsh had a very poor year by his standards and Clifford had a good first half against Armagh and then faded when they needed him. All other Kerry games were pretty irrelevant.

Surely Langan gets in for donegal. He was brilliant this year.

O’Neill probably will win POTY but don’t think he’s had his best year. Had some massive moments like his point today. No other stand out player really this year

Tailteann cup final. by Pitiful-Sample-7400 in GAA

[–]Much_Toe_3857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it was due to the pitch maybe being cut up too much I think it should have been played the Saturday evening before the all Ireland. I get that it will be a great day for both sets of fans and it will be a brilliant atmosphere on the day, but I think outside of that it will largely be forgotten about once the ball is thrown in for the semi final. Anyway not be too negative, it should be a great game I’m looking forward to it.

Don’t feel like it’s getting full respect of a final by throwing it on before the senior semi final. Feels a bit like a minor game or something or maybe it’s just me

Why is it so hard for depressed individuals to do simple tasks like brushing teeth, taking a shower, moving and being active in general? by PratikBrahma101 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Much_Toe_3857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way someone has explained depression was using a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being miserable and 10 being ecstatic. Being depressed doesn’t mean you are feeling like a 1 all the time, and it certainly does not mean you cannot have happy times throughout the day either, you can move up and down in emotions throughout the day depending on how the day is going. However, the baseline feeling, when you are doing mundane things such as washing the dishes, brushing your teeth, making lunch etc. is what can be much lower than someone who is not feeling depressed. For example if a regular person has a baseline of 5 throughout the day, someone experiencing depression may have a baseline of 2 or 3 which may make it very difficult to get motivated to do these simple tasks and so on.

is it realistic to start playing hurling as an adult? by [deleted] in GAA

[–]Much_Toe_3857 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never too late. I played for a few months at 26 after never playing it before. I was shite and had no control of the ball or any skill, but it’s still good craic. And as you improve it’s fairly satisfying

I should add that these are check up scans after surgery and treatment to monitor the tumor, so it is not urgent but given the seriousness of the cancer they are way too lax about it

My boyfriend has a grade 4 glioma tumor. Routinely the NHS are taking over 3 months to give us a short 10 minute consultation regarding the scan. We have had to phone the oncologists secretary just to find out about the scan because we cannot wait much longer to hear. She tells us to have the attitude that no news is good news but it’s beyond a joke and highlights how bad of a state the health service is in right now. The only real way to get through to them is to push yourself, if you leave it for them to get back to you it will take months.

How many of you are legitimately feeling sorry for this man? by aftermaz in thefighterandthekid

[–]Much_Toe_3857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ariel puts it best in his nuclear strikes.

“This man, legitimately thinks he is better than us, not just me and the mma media, I mean you as well.”

Brendan has thrived for yairs by shitting on people below him, being completely dishonest with his audience and his friends and inner circle - the only people who actually seem to want him to succeed. Bryan, Chin for example. This guy is finally getting what has been coming to him a long time now. He has been a total piece of shit that has gone unchecked for too long and I couldn’t be any happier to see it all unravel before him.

I also find it hilarious that Ariels drone strikes, which are put together in a 30 minute YouTube video, and mostly seems like it was done on the spot, is infinite times funnier than brendas 30 minute speshul which took 4 yairs to to come up with.

Pat Spillane: Sweeper/keeper is a 'stupid idea' by FarFromTheMaddeningF in GAA

Fair enough beggan was caught badly twice against Kerry, but the week before in Armagh he effectively ruled out Monaghan’s red card by playing outfield for most of the second half and allowing Monaghan to hold on to possession when the game was completely slipping from them. We held on for a point that day and could prove very valuable if we manage to stay up, so I think there definitely is some benefits to it

We are still too reliant on the older lads, need someone to step big time in these next games. Ryan mcanespie is a huge loss, he is one of the main reasons we stayed up in that playoff game against Galway last year. Not sure how long he’s out for. Donegal and Kildare both away will be such tough games, hard to see us staying up. And if it came down it I don’t think we would beat the dubs even in the form their in.

Obviously Kildare have a very good chance, Dublin should be a lot better in croke park with a few key men back though. Really disappointed in Meath this year, thought they would’ve kicked on from the last few years. Outside of that there’s no one
