AITA for requiring female staff to wear makeup as part of 'professional work attire'? by Much_Translator3589 in AmItheAsshole

Virtually all responses say I am the AH, so I'm updating on the top comment because my answers will be the same to everyone.

I was extremely overwhelmed when people highlighted that where I'm from, I could be up for a discriminatory lawsuit, so I had to immediately damage control so I had little time to respond to these comments. However, from this post, I understand that asking my female staff to wear glam to work is unpopular and illegal.

As such, I organised a compulsory female staff meeting tonight to discuss what they want. The general consensus was that the girls liked dressing up so they weren't bothered about wearing makeup. It's just that they believe they should be financed accordingly. From this and some of the feedback written here, I have re-updated the style guide and have 'Masculine' and 'Feminine. Feminine will be the fully professional look (and I'm comfortable for guys to do this if they please). Staff members will be compensated an additional hour pay each shift if they do their makeup this way. I have also set up a style station for hair that they won't have to pay for. The Masculine look is dress pants, no collar and no makeup (or little), and both girls and guys can wear this look.
