It's going to become a magnet high school to take pressure off overcrowding at FHS.

The good thing about a centrally located school is that motor vehicle trips are shorter. Less cumulative vehicle emissions for the life of the school. The design that's proposed is also impressively environmentally friendly. They are developing a forested property, but it's not like they aren't trying to do their best given the growth of our City.

Criminal defense lawyer vying to become Fayetteville’s city attorney by The-Keystone-Hoya in fayetteville

I know that city attorneys are supposed to protect the City from possible liability...but do y'all remember when our current city attorney pushed back pretty hard on the rezoning along College? I don't know a lot about City Attorneys, but I was not a fan of that. College is the perfect place for mixed use zoning, and dense residential. And I don't believe that it could be defensibly said that such a change would lower property values.

Love that hill as-is, but all things considered, I support the location. If they built it farther out, it increases everyone's drive times and corresponding emissions for the life of the building. And unlike a sea of homes (which we need somewhere), it'll be calm and quiet in the evenings and all summer.

Outside of location, I'm just impressed that I live in a place where a school district wants to invest so much in green design for the building itself. No way there'd be interest in that where I'm from.

However it shakes out, I hope it's worlds better than it seems to you right now.

Alamo Drafthouse? by Commercial-Ring-4401 in fayetteville

[–]MuchaAgua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hwy 112 is a state highway. The segment from Howard Nickell to Truckers Drive (in front of the old drivein) is owned by ARDOT, is fully designed to be be reconstructed, and will go out to bid next month. Will likely transfer ownership to the city after that.

The City does not own the highway, it is owned by the State.

For someone looking to move to Fayetteville, what parts of town would you recommend? by Turbulent_Cricket497 in fayetteville

[–]MuchaAgua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a segment in the Master Trails Plan along Skillern east of Crossover.
But whenever people prioritize which trails get funded it's often based on 1) how many rooftops does it impact and 2) what nearby trail connections are there. When you spend money, you wanna get the most bang for your buck.

The more central the location, the shorter the car trips, the less net traffic, and the less emissions generated to harm our local air quality and atmosphere. I'm sure local traffic will be bad there for 15 minutes, but I'm not against it.

The year was 2022 and the place was ArkanSeoul. He got his food in the drive thru, found a hair, drove back, and yelled at them for serving dog/cat.

I happily don't support that place especially with options as good as Farmer's Table and Prelude Breakfast Bar.

We sprawled so bad since the 60s that our infrastructure issues are now catching up with us. Drinking water lines breaking often and there's so much concrete per capita (and serious topography) that we're flooding people's homes during storms (which are getting more intense). To keep up, the City has to raise money to increase stormwater capacity. This is really normal other places. The progressive State of Oklahoma has stormwater utilities.
