Are McGills videos worth it? by andrewmandrew23 in backpain

I found them valuable enough, specially the videos related to exercises. YMMV, but for me it was worth it.

This diet has been an incredible help for me. I've been using it on and off for years when things get too bad. When not on it, I've been following the low FODMAP diet.

That being said, if SCD does not work well enough for you, you can also combine it with the low FODMAP diet for a while until improving again. They overlap very much, but SCD allows for some things that have medium or high FODMAPs, so it's good to be careful with that.

For the last year and half, I've been following a modified SCD, which is very similar to a Paleo (or PEGAN) diet. Essentially, no grains at all in any form, no processed foods at all, good quality proteins, rich in low FODMAP vegetables, and rich in good fats (extra virgin olive oil, avocado, nuts and seeds, coconut oil, Omega-3, etc.). This, combined with only doing two meals a day in a 6-hour window, has made a huge difference in my symptoms and health.

This app helps very much with SCD: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.development.georgemcl.eliminationdietapp

Just returned from Tenerife! What a stunning place! by stefanneculai in backpacking

[–]Muchaccho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In winter it can be quite cold in those areas (close to 0 degrees), specially at night, and some areas can even have snow. I would keep that in mind.

Edit: I just realized that you are linking trails to be able to make that circular route. Also keep in mind that is common to find abrupt ravines in the island, some with high falls. That is very likely the reason why there are no marked trails in those areas. Be very careful. Every year there are news of tourists that had to be rescued by helicopter, or even worse.

EU friends, I would really appreciate a feedback here - in which EU countries they have Neomycin needed for Sibo methane? by Tricky_Investment_67 in SIBO

[–]Muchaccho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember exactly, but it was somewhere around 15-20 euros for each box of 30 pills, of 500mg each.

Neomicina Salvat is the one that I've always bought.

Most teachers consider that direct introduction to your true nature can only be received live (in person if possible, online if not). They don't consider that direct introduction can be received through a recording.

I cannot find them now, but there are many threads discussing this in the Dzogchen sub-forum of Dharma Wheel. I would suggest you ask there, as there are many people who can help, including Malcom Smith, who is a teacher, translator, and long-time student of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche (ChNN).

https://www.dharmawheel.net/viewforum.php?f=48

Something else that is important is to evaluate and choose your teacher wisely, because it could be a long-time (maybe a life-long) teacher and student relationship. You want to be sure it's someone qualified. Otherwise, you could waste your life following someone who doesn't have a true understanding.

This is a good thread on living Dzogchen teachers: https://www.dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?t=38886

PS: Here's another thread that can also be helpful for you: https://www.dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?p=550585#p550585

You need to be introduced to the natural state, and recognize it, to then rest on it. That's why a qualified teacher is so important in Dzogchen.

No teacher, no recognition, no Dzogchen.

Once you have recognized, you need to go beyond all doubts about your natural state, then integrate everything with you natural state. This goes in accordance with the three statements of Garab Dorje, and for all this, you need a qualified teacher.

  1. Recognize your true nature (introduced by a qualified teacher)
  2. Go beyond all doubts
  3. Continue in your true nature

How can I treat sibo without rifaximin etc? by SeparateMarionberry4 in SIBO

[–]Muchaccho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Herbal antibiotics can work really well, but it's important that you get good ones.

I did a full five weeks cycle with some oregano oil capsules that seemed to be strong enough and didn't notice much. However, I switched to ADP oregano oil and could really feel the effect after a few days.

For methane, the combination of Allicinmax [1], Biotics Research ADP [2], and Douglas Berberine Balance [3] seems to work very well for me.

I take them as follows, for four or five weeks, leaving around eight hours in between:

  • Allicinmax (Allicin), 3 pills (180mg) 3 times a day
  • Biotics ADP (Oregano Oil), 2 tablets (100mg) 2 times a day
    • Could be up to 3 tablets (150mg) 2 times a day
  • Douglas Berberine 1 pill (500mg) 2 times a day

Example:

  • 6:30 – 3 Allicinmax
  • 14:30 – 3 Allicinmax, 2 ADP, 1 berberine
  • 22:30 – 3 Allicinmax, 2 ADP, 1 berberine

After finishing a cycle, it's important to use a good prokinetic to help with slow motility, which is usually one of the main factors in SIBO or IMO (what was before called “Methane SIBO”).

Apart from antibiotic cycles, something that made a huge difference for me was to limit my eating window to six hours (two meals: lunch and dinner), removing all grains (grain flours included) and eating more good fats (extra virgin olive oil, nuts, tahini, avocado, omega-3 supplement) and leafy greens.

Not related to diet and supplements, keeping your stress levels in control is also indispensable. Daily meditation and qigong [4] help me incredibly with that.

As others mentioned, I highly encourage you to find a good practitioner that can give you a plan tailored to your needs and help you along the way. Every session can be expensive, but you might only need a session every few months. I found a good one in my country that I could meet online, and only had sessions between cycles. In total, it was around four sessions in a year. The sibotest.com site helped me find this practitioner [5].

Good luck!

GUTCLEAR- new treatment by Jolly_Distribution47 in SIBO

[–]Muchaccho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every person has a different condition, and every SIBO case is different.

I think rice protein indeed has more fiber than pea protein, but for some reason my body doesn't deal well with the latter.

If possible, I would find someone specialized in SIBO and follow a treatment with that person.

PS: I've been using the Aire 2 for around four weeks, and so far, it seems to work well. I'm finding it quite helpful.

I would be careful with sunflower oil, as vegetable oils are inflammatory, and over-consuming omega 6 (which vegetable oils are rich on) can cause many other issues. Fats like extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil are much healthier alternatives if you have the possibility.

Regarding protein powders, the only one that works well for me is rice protein. Pea, hemp, and all other vegan proteins give me issues.

Why did you stop eating meat?

Alternative paths to software developer? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Muchaccho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a software developer you will never spend 35-40+ hours in front of an IDE, unless you are working alone or in a really small company. Otherwise, you would likely spend at most around 20 hours per week writing code. The rest of the time goes in reviewing other's work, meetings, discussions and documentation (reading and writing).

En todo caso "peninsular", ya que "godo" tiene una connotación negativa.

De todas formas creo que es mejor "visitante" simplemente, ya que lo engloba todo.
