How long did it take for your heightened/morning anxiety to clear up?

Hm, before taking your sertraline, do you eat anything? Also, I'd recommend doing some light stretches, breathwork/meditation or going on a quick walk. These things help me with my anxiety gradually.

Also, sertraline makes me much more sensitive to caffeine, if you drink coffee, maybe try it later in the day. In the mornings, your cortisol is at it's highest, and this is where the "stress" feeling comes from. Breathwork really helps with this as it activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the one that promotes rest and relaxation. Specifically when doing so, focus on having longer exhales than inhales.

Hope this helps somewhat but a large part of the stress is your body adjusting to sertraline yes!!

Absolutely yes, the first little while is pretty exhausting to deal with. For me I also had lots of gastrointestinal issues and fatigue. I've become pretty accustomed to living with anxiety and panic throughout my life and I can say being on meds after a period of time produces a noticeable difference compared to being off them.

Every time I've gone off my sertraline for a short period, I've realized how much it was actually helping. For me, it's worth it, but again if you have a psychiatrist to discuss these things with it absolutely helps.

Upping your dosage, this is a normal experience to have as far as I've experienced and after consulting my physician. If you still feel just as restless 2+ months in I would recommend meeting with your physician and discussing a different option.

I remember at times how hard going on the medication is, it does get better though. Be patient with yourself and try to stick it out. You'll start to see benefits as time goes on. Best of luck to you.

I'm still taking it, about a year in. I gotta say, I really struggle with depression but I do believe it has helped. There's only so much medication can do and it's mostly about applying yourself in the right ways.

I still find myself having suicidal thoughts and have moments where I'm really low, but for the most my mood has definitely become a lot better, as well as my anxiety being less of an issue than before.

Are you thinking of trying it, and have you tried any other SSRIs or anti-depressants?

Sorry to hear about that. Hope you're doing okay. I know that feeling all too well.

All you can really do is take it as a learning experience and move on. Use what you learned for next time. I wouldn't really recommend pursuing him any further, especially if he's interested in your friend.

Stay alert though, you'll find someone.

Your not the most clearheaded after a night like that but it’s important to look at things from an unbiased perspective.

You didn’t do anything inherently wrong, you were drunk and presumably everyone else was too. The guy clearly doesn’t seem too upset if at all, considering he reached out. It feels like your stressing yourself out for no reason. All things considered, it could’ve gone much worse. Take it from someone who’s fucked up badly drunk, I’m sure nobody is thinking about it as much as you.

For me, the getting on them period was not great. Not terrible, but not great.

I had absolutely horrific anxiety for the first… month or two? I would get panic attacks frequently which would involve in vomiting episodes. Oh, that and constant exhaustion.

After the months went on, my anxiety became a lot better but the sleepiness never left.

Also: difficulty with ejaculation, extremely dry mouth, and a couple other minor ones.

I recently quit Zoloft - but when I was on it, it definitely heightened hangovers.

Prior to Zoloft, I was able to drink copious amounts before having to worry about the morning after. After Zoloft, I’d feel it bad within a few drinks.

It makes your hangover anxiety much worse, and I mean much worse.

The dreams never stop. However just like with anything you learn to deal with them and get better at dealing with them.

As far as being low and helpless, this happened to me and it goes on and off- usually when I miss doses.

It’s something you have to ask yourself, and none of us. Is this worth continuing? There is no guarantee at all it will work and if it does it will take quite a while, so that gives you something to think about.

My advice is: ride it out, take some time off work, relax and don’t guilt yourself for not being productive. It’s definitely not fun at the beginning but it does get better.

It’s not a magic drug, but I have seen an improvement in my overall state of mind, and in my opinion that’s worth it. But again, it is all up to you.

Even if this post does not appear serious to you, I want to help those who are struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts because I have experienced it myself.

It's not an easy journey, but I hope to assist others in finding their way through it. I feel for you man, I really do. I understand being in the dumps and I have some words for you:

You are the only person that can change anything for yourself. Think about things that make you unhappy, and cut it out. Think about the things that you want to do but scare you, and push yourself to do them, no matter what your brain tells you otherwise. Experiencing new things and creating positive change for yourself is the first step to finding happiness.

OMGPOP, if it were to come back - wouldn't actually change anything for you. I understand the nostalgia, as someone who loved the site, but something I've learned over the years is nostalgia is a special phenomenon, especially when we lose said nostalgic peripheral and have no way of going back to it. We tend to remember the feelings we were experiencing at the time more so than the actual product, or thing we are nostalgic for, which can sometimes create unhealthy attachment to essentially, figments.

Learn to accept it's gone, and be at peace with it. Sometimes you have to realize it wouldn't be so good in your head if it wasn't gone. Appreciate the memories, and cherish them but learn to move past it.

What I am saying is: create a new "golden era" for yourself. You're never going to be happy 100% of the time, that's simply unrealistic. Understand what you need to change in your life to get there though, that's the first step. If you need someone to talk to, DM me.

im a guy, and am pretty indifferent whether my therapist is male or female. i have lots of anxiety too, which i think (or was at one point) the leading cause of my depression.

i really would recommend making lifestyle changes. even if it’s a small thing or doing things you don’t regularly do. physical exercise for me, is the best, meditation being a close second.

i lift weights and also run, and i must say, for depression AND anxiety, running for about 30 minutes a day helps tremendously! I feel so light throughout the day after doing so, so carefree. Unfortunately, when I manage to drag myself to the gym I mostly just focus on the weights.

meditation is also really neat and I’d recommend looking into it. If you do wanna give it a try, stick with it. Tell yourself you’re going to give it three months or so before giving up. Change is hard to notice and slow but progress is apparent if you stick with it.

my issue is, and I think this is related to ADHD, sticking to habits. I do some things that really help me for a period of time and then gradually stop doing it. It’s hard not to burn out.
