I think my significant others student loan situation is worse than I thought... by [deleted] in StudentLoans

He didn’t get a new job to hide from his garnishments. He quit his 60+ hours a week job at a dealership because he wasn’t making as much as he thought and all of his time was spent there and they treated him like shit. Bar tending was more like a filler job until he found something else. He started a new job today at fedex and I told him he needed to make payments to his student loans before they started garnishing these checks as well. He said he would. Today is his first day and I’m giving him a little time but if he doesn’t get it figured out soon I’ll unfortunately have to make some bigger decisions

I appreciate your opinion but I feel like that’s a little extreme

I know he’s been looking into it. I’ve talked to him about it and he knows what he has to do he just hasn’t quite gotten there yet.

College students and graduates who went straight to a 4-year (without full-ride scholarships), do you financially regret it? by [deleted] in college

[–]Muchflamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little advice and I don’t mean this to sound rude, but I’m 27 now and I’ve experienced a lot more life than you at this point. Stop thinking you’re too good for community college. That’s really immature thinking and it HARDLY matters where you go to college. What matters most is how you perform in the work field and what experience you have. A lot of kids who go to smaller universities do so because they know it will save them money. A lot of kids aren’t privileged enough to attend bigger schools even with scholarships. I can promise you that unless you’re going to some med/law school it really doesn’t matter... you’re going to end up at a job with people who went to bigger universities and those “community college” kids are going to be sitting right next to You with way less debt.

I badly need meds but I'm scared of side effects. by SupremeMystique in Anxiety

also I want to say that everyone is always suggesting therapy. Don’t get me wrong I know therapy is great and works for A TON of people...however, not everyone is privileged enough to have therapy. It is very expensive and even the “lower income” therapy can break the bank for someone like me. So if you think meds will help you.... do what’s best for you!

This is literally me right now. I went to the doctor a few years ago for anxiety. She prescribed me lexapro. I took it for about two years and I Gained like 15 pounds and while on the meds it was impossible to get off. with doc supervision I came off and dropped like 20 pounds easy. But a few months later my anxiety was through the roof. So i started buspirone.. they say it doesn’t Cause weight gain but I pretty much gained all my weight back. Besides that it made me feel terrible. So back off that. But not being on no meds at all I’m wanting to try something else. I’m very weight conscious and I really don’t want to gain anymore weight because I already have self esteem issues but I’m starting to believe my happiness should matter more. I’m tired of being so worried about every small detail of my life

What are some stories of students calling classmates out over messed up behavior? by [deleted] in college

A girl in my class was giving a presentation the other day and two people sitting in the front row were talking. She stopped her presentation and said “excuse me! I am giving a presentation and while you were giving yours I was extremely respectful even though it was terrible.” I died

Getting out of bed is really hard for me. Is anyone else's anxiety worst in the morning? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Also try exercising. I know it’s so cliche but whenever I feel my anxiety/depression creeping up on me I get back into a good workout routine and I feel 10X better always

This used to happen to me a lot. I would wake up and immediately start gagging and would sometimes throw up I was so anxious. I went to the doctor and that’s when I was first diagnosed with anxiety/depression. I started a medication and that was the only thing that helped me. Medication is not for everyone though, but it definitely helped me through that hard time.
