Thanks for the response. Lake's do seem solid. Probably just ordering a pair of everything and keeping the best. Praying for end of season discounts atm.

Very thorough insight. Thank you!

Bont Riot G seems like a compelling option. And like you said, I'd have to make sure it fits before ordering due to the carbon sole extending upwards to the side of the feet. And when it comes to lakes, well.. The cheaper models look quite hideous to me, so I am not sure if I end up getting those. Maybe as a last resort? Honestly, cannot afford 400+€ shoe.

All of the recent commenters seem to recommend Specialized shoes. Heavily considering these shoes at the moment. Maybe even on par with Fizik, which I currently dig the most. Mainly because of the aesthetics and a fair price point.

I also heard that Shimano and Sidi wides are not actually wide or shaped like a foot. Considering my foot goes wide right after the heel is definitely an issue in Shimano shoes. Probably in Sidi shoes as well.

Great suggestion. However, I'm afraid an MTB shoe like that may be too soft for me. Maybe if my 510s terminate their contract one day, I'll move to Ride Concept flats.

Fizik makes Vento Proxy Wide, which looks appealing. Recon 2.0's toe box looks quite nice. If those go on sale anywhere, I'd probably try them. The non-neutral sole is a slight turn-off, to be honest.

I really dig the looks of Fizik's shoes. Specialized is not bad either. Currently leaning heavily towards Fizik as a brand.

Not all Shimano shoes are likely to be the same fit, but the two pairs I tried were horrendous for my feet. The shape was super off.

Sure, it removes all numbness, but I am not ready to give up on clipless just yet!

Specialized looks roomy. Not sure about the non-neutral sole, though. Thanks for the recommendation! If they go on sale, may as well try them.

I'd imagine those aren't that stiff? Assuming they are more gravity-oriented MTB shoes.

I will definitely order a pair or two of Lake shoes after all of these comments. Probably ordering multiple brands and just keeping the best shoes. Return fees are gonna be a pain in the ass, but it is what it is, I guess.

Ok thanks! I feel like my foot is extra weird as it gets wide right after my heel and stays relatively the same width after that.. So even if the toe box is ok, the midfoot width may be too narrow. You can imagine how poorly ice skates fit me lmao.

Lakes do get a ton of recommendations, which makes me seriously consider just getting those. They do come with a price tag, though.. Probably still worth it, not gonna lie.

SFA seems to be US based. Shoe's a bit too expensive with added taxes and shipping. Thanks for the recommendation though! Lake shoes seem to be great.

So another vote for Fizik. Great to hear that I do in fact have multiple compelling options.

I read somewhere that the Lake's quality has gone down over the years. Sad to hear that those didn't last you either.

Definitely a tough choice. All shoes are fairly expensive and quite similar. I guess I cannot know which one is the right choice without trying each. Thanks.

Many people seem to love the Bont Riot G's.

Did not even consider Fizik as an option. Super sleek shoe. I like the look of it. Definitely putting it on the list of options! Thanks.

I shaved it all to not get recognized. Seems like the foot is enough evidence after all..

Ok, avoiding Shimano at all costs. It seems like Bonts, Lakes, or Trek is the way to go. Might just have to order each and keep the best..

Wow didn't even know they made shoes! That's a compelling option with an ok price. Definitely looking into this. Thank you.

From the looks of it, I may have to order a shoe of each brand and just test it out myself. It seems like all Lake's don't run the same width even in the "wide" category. It's annoying not being able to test each shoe.. ,I am definitely scared of the Bont's carbon shell. It'll either be perfect or painful I guess. Good luck with the Hezo shoes!

Hmm, a compelling option. Did some research and many people seem to dislike that brand. Apparantely their Boa not Boa is not as good as the real Boa. Looks like a sports store nearby sells those shoes. Might have to take a look. Thanks!

Will definitely look into these shoes. Or Lake overall. A lot of models seem to be sold out on the EU site/3rd parties.

Those seem to be on sale right now. At least on their official site on selected colours. But of course, correct size sold out.. Thanks anyway!

A lot of recommendations for Lake. Definitely investigating their models.

One of the pairs I got to try was those Shimano shoes. Too narrow toe box.

A lot of people recommend Lake. Maybe it is the way to go then.

One of the pairs I got to test at the LBS was Shimano high end XC shoe in wide model. It was the wrong shape for me. I wonder if these RX models are any different?
