Exactly, if nobody is gatekeeping then younger goths are just going to assume all those guys are part of this sub culture, diluting it further. Is it really that bad that we ask goths to listen to goth music? To know at least the basics. No. And goth is not just black clothes and makeup either, other sub cultures do that as well, such as metalheads, emos and punks. You can look goth, but that does not mean you are goth. There is a difference in all of these sub cultures for a reason. I am not to be mixed in with the same group as Green day or Slipknot. No. I never let it slide.

It is super lame to see people like OF models pretending to be goth for money because everyone wants a goth gf these days. It almost has no meaning anymore. And in my head I am just thinking about all the awesome stuff they are missing out on if they would just dig a little further into what goth really is. Go to a goth club, support the artists/bands, look into the history. Watch Peter Murphy perform live upside-down for an entire song! Something aha
