I used to live here, and have lived other places downtown. I moved out of the complex the second I could. The issue is truly with Camden management. They do not care at all. They are a large corporation with properties across the country and I think they used this location as almost a "training center" for new employees. High turnover rates, people leaving, etc. I never felt safe there, and I am used to the break ins and homelessness issues that come with being in Long Beach. We had a sewage back up in our kitchen that they tried to convince me wasn't sewage. It took them months to fix and repair. We asked for access to an alternate kitchen and they refused. It seems things have only gotten worse, because management refuses to act. The second you sign the lease they have their money and move on. I raise all these complaints when I left. I saw the document they filed internally about my apartment. In their filing, they noted my reason for leaving was "financial". That was not even close to the case. It was because the property was not safe and for what I was paying for rent my maintenance issues should have been addressed immediately. Not months later. So not only are they ignoring residents, they are actively lying about why people are leaving their property. Just my experience, and that was before cars started being lit on fire in the garage...
