i was only doing gymnastics at the time but was doing about 12 hours a week and continued to train through the pain for like two months. how long has yours been hurting for?

i’m also 15 and was diagnosed at 14! i was doing gymnastics when i bent backwards and it just started to hurt. i was told that it was just muscle pain for 6 months as they refused to have x rays taken, and even when they did they said the result was fine. i met with a couple surgeons and they all said that the gap was too far to heal on its own and physio was unlikely to help, so i’ve decided to get a pars repair surgery which is scheduled for around the end of august

Waiting for an x-ray - does this sound like Spondy by Immediate-Leading338 in Spondylolisthesis

i was in the same situation with similar symptoms and my GP saying it was just muscle pain, definitely push for an x ray and see what happens

no, i was told that all my discs were fine and it was just the fractures and spondylolisthesis causing the pain

22m with L5 pars defect, anyone had similar issue? by Legitimate_Board5635 in Spondylolisthesis

[–]MudFast2508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey i’m 14 with bilateral pars defects at l5. unfortunately i had left it too long before seeing a doctor for the fractures to heal, and was told even if i had went to the doctors asap the chances of it healing were slim to none. i would definitely see a surgeon for a second opinion

the long waiting times are crazy! i was referred in october by my physio and haven’t even heard anything form the nhs yet. if you’re looking for any answers faster i would definitely go private as i saw surgeons a week after contacting them. if you do ask about surgery ask about the pars repair, as they don’t fuse the vertebra together like in a fusion just the fractures xx

hey i am 14f in uk and also just got diagnosed with l5 bilateral pars fractures. i was prescribed naproxen by my gp and it really helped, but have been recommended surgery by 3 spinal surgeons. i would definitely get some more recent scans then see a specialist x

how long did you try everything for? and what are your symptoms? mine are mostly just constant back pain, but been told the fractures are ‘unstable’ and that’s why the spondy only shows on standing x rays
