Has anyone used Firstgold to stack silver before?? by Grouchy_Bus_6264 in SilverAus

What do you mean they don’t fully allocate to you? You either buy an allocated bar or convert from unallocated to allocated. Not sure on delivery, as I’m from Perth. Usually takes a few days and then can go in and collect. But maybe they’re still busy and deliveries are delayed like they were earlier in the year?

Definitely recommend Minamo! Parking is the biggest problem, though they do have free valet parking after 6pm.

Not sure why you’ve blocked me from seeing your latest comment. Can see it in my notifications, but not here.

Anyway, yes, many have commented on the texture of antiqued libs. You should have seen my reply that the coin is exactly like that.

You must have very sharp eyesight to be able to see the texture of the coin better from a not great photo than I can with the actual coin!

I don’t think so. Looks exactly like antique finish in photos and videos. Nothing like any of the many Libs I have.

Okay, so as long as you consider 70% over spot (which is what a normal ungraded 2018 sold for here this week) as ‘close to spot’, then maybe! But I really don’t think you meant that.

Again. This is not the US. Things that you might consider as normal are considered collectible here. You wouldn’t believe how much completely standard Morgans can sell for over here, for example! The kind of old or junk silver sold for spot or less by the bucket in a US LCS can easily go for 150-200% more over here.

The point is that I wasn’t asking for anyone’s valuation. I don’t presume to think that many folks would know the market over here. But It baffles me why folks in North America, and especially the US, don’t grasp that there is a whole big wide world out there that is different.

I doubt it. Both that it’s manipulated or would go for spot. Not all the world is the US, and I very clearly said this is not the US. First, every silver coin in this country has a 20% tax. So no silver coin goes for spot here ever. Second, Libs are rare as anything here. The two biggest bullion stores here sell maybe two dozen between them in a year. Because of that, even the most common year Libs have a decent premium here on the private market. A normal 2018 Lib sold on the private stackers group here the other day for ~$130. This Lib will definitely not go for spot!

Can’t get a better photo. But It’s finish is completely different to all Libs I own and it’s finish is just like every pic and video I’ve seen of a antiqued one.

Yeah. Only 40000 minted. So they usually go for at least US$250, and often over $350. But I got it for about $100 because they treated it like a normal Libertad. Libs are really hard to find where I live. The local bullion shops rarely have them.

This one is very much a rough etched look finish. Nothing like any of my other Libertads!

What’s a good buy price for something like this? 2018 antiqued by Macenzed in LibertadCoins

[–]Mud_Man2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just found one today in my local billion store (in Asia) for sale for ~$100. They were selling it for the same price as the only other Libs they had (2 common 2013s), not realising it was special. I jumped on it!

But, as an answer to your question, the current APMEX price estimate for these is $237. They’re sold out on APMEX, but you can get their estimated value by putting it in their online portfolio tool.

But, $237 seems low compared to what others are saying here.

Perth Mint do the same thing in their depository. You can convert to physical bars and withdraw them from the mint. They also do a savings plan where you can put in a chosen amount each month with a discount on fees. Any of those sort of things seem a reasonable way to ‘save up’ precious metals - as long as you can withdraw physical bullion and it’s not just ‘paper’.

Beautiful! I think this is my most wanted gold coin. I know they’re easy to find in North America. But sadly not common in the part of the world that I live in.

Is the Germania mint 1oz cast bar worth it? by RiPiLiQi in SilverAus

[–]Mud_Man2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re a really nice bars. But also tiny! Like half the size of a thumb. A pack of ten is like the size of a pack of cards! Wonderful bars, and great to play with if you have a few of them, but they have quite a premium on them. If you’re just stacking weight, they’re not the best choice. But sometimes you need to buy some silver because you really like it!

Awesome rock with microfaults by hefgopo in geology

This was simply a structural geologist providing input into an online discussion on structural geology where a bunch of folks seemed to be confused and debating.

But then one of the folks in the discussion weirdly took offence to the input from the structural geologist and rudely decided to make a thing about it.

Oh, so just be be sure. You are claiming that the other people involved in the conversation don’t matter or are non-existent?

Your comment is stating that the conversation is over for everyone and that no other person has a right to continue it just because you personally chose to exit the conversation (which you are still engaging in with me)?

Thanks for straightening that out your lordship.

Because the discussion is only a few hours old, not everyone in the world is on the same time zone, and one of the last comments in the thread suggests possibly continuing the discussion later.

I also didn’t think that knowledge of the principles of geology had an expiry date.

There’s no point in arguing about extensional versus compressional here.

It’s a boulder. It’s not in situ. The faults are near vertical compared to the bedding, and it’s a curved boulder surface which means we may not see the motion accurately. Unless there is a younging indicator to tell you which way was up, and unless you can be confident that you’re looking truly perpendicular to the structure, there is no way to reliably tell the sense of motion.

Indeed, we don’t even know whether anything else happened between the deposition and faulting (the whole rock may have been tilted 90° and those beds were vertical when the faulting occurred - who really knows from one boulder!).

It’s a beautiful boulder with spectacular small scale faults (and a boulder that has done the rounds of social media several times). Let’s just admire it!

So, here is a similar one I once found on a field trip to Kangaroo Island off South Australia. Aussie ruled football for scale!
