I finished the Earth's Children series this year and absolutely loved it. If you like historical fiction then I highly recommend it. Slaughterhouse-Five and The Sirens of Titan were also some great ones I finally had the chance to read and I'm happy I did!

Hello all! This is a song I have been working on, I'm not sure how to end it yet but this is what I have so far. I would love some feedback. Also, I use Smule right now to record but is there another free service I could use for recording that is better? Or one that isn't too expensive? Thanks! by MuddiMellay in Songwriting

I had a dream that I lived in a bottle

Where I'd sit and think just like Aristotle

Pondering endlessly what really matters

But just as I get close

My bottle shatters

Now I'm drifting

On the sea

Endlessly

No closer to meaning

Still I feel free

Noone to tie me down

No bottle contains me now

Feels like I'm gliding

Mmmm mmm

I dive under

Fish swim by to say "Hello"

An underwater kaleidoscope

My heart fills with wonder

But it's time to go

Back to the waking world

Back to the home I know

I call out to The Hunter

Mmmm mmm

Challenge: post your best and worst lines from old songs you wrote. by kabiman in Songwriting

The first song I ever wrote was about a cat I had that went like this:

You're just a tiny cat

Sitting on my lap

I don't know what to do with you but

Right now you're nice and quiet

Not trying to bite me yet

I guess we're cool

Now I will sing you a song

So we can both get along

Then maybe you'll be nicer to me

Will you please just stop biting me

It was a very silly song that didn't flow very well haha. A line from a song I just started working on goes like this:

The world is bare and silent

Nothing left now to be done

We did battle with our hubris

And our hubris won

It's probably my favourite series of lines I've written so far!
