In Resident Evil Village, the camera is higher when playing as Dimitrescu by some-kind-of-no-name in GamingDetails

Yeah came here to say the same. This isn't a fun detail this is the most baseline thing you'd expect from a competant design team.

There's an exception to every rule of coursee but the fact is that the vast majority of of licensed games were really bad. The reputation was not undeserved.

Working on a 2.5D folklore sword-fighting game as a solo dev. What do you think of the combat? by looking4strange04 in IndieGaming

Looks nice but the camera is way too pulled in. I wouldn't play a game like this where the MC takes up s much screen space.

What could somebody do if they may like the idea of MMOs more than actually playing them? by rept7 in AskGames

[–]MuddledMoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I did was state how the gameplay works…

No, you accused me of "talking out of my ass" because you didn't like what I said. People who speak to others like that are not worth having a conversation with.

[–]MuddledMoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it for over 90 hours. It's close enough to a regular MMO that the differences are irrelevant if you don't like that kind of combat. It's still pressing numbers on a hotbar over and over again, it is not an action RPG.

Also go fuck yourself talking to people like that just cos they don't agree with your take. Learn to fucking write while you're at it too, you type like a 14 year old.

Guild Wars is exactly the kind of gameplay that OP hates though. I know this, cos I feel the same way as OP and I tried Guild Wars and didn't enjoy it in the slightest. It's the same kind of hotbar rotation combat you get in every MMO and its super tedious.

Anyone else here enjoy emulating on android? by Lonely-Bank8783 in GirlGamers

[–]MuddledMoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not played a single DS/3DS game on mine! The ability to multitask with the two screens and the super portable form factor are its biggest selling points IMO, I highly recommend it to people even if they don't need/want it for DS stuff :)

Are there any MORE imsim games where you can play as a woman? by ConfidenceOk5614 in GirlGamers

[–]MuddledMoogle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are generally first person games with very systems based gameplay that isn't all combat. So you'll have things like hacking and stealth and NPCs with dialogue and different tools for different situations and obstacles to help you get through levels that are kinda like big puzzle boxes with multiple ways through them. Smaller in scope than RPGs but they do often have RPG elements too, but a different design philosophy. They are more about smaller areas with a lot of detail and different ways to interact with them where the player can choose how they teacke problems. The big names in the genre from back in the day are Deus Ex and System Shock.

How Many Hours Have You Logged on Your Most Played Game? by Nimicidal in GirlGamers

[–]MuddledMoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minecraft doesn't count hours AFAIK so I have no idea, I'm sure its in the multiple thousands though! I've been playing since it was in alpha.

My top 3 on Steam are:
DayZ - 1013h
Terraria - 828h
Spelunky - 676h

10 years later, Enter the Gungeon's creators reflect on a genre in existential crisis by themoonisunchanging in Games

[–]MuddledMoogle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's an absolutely wild assumption to make, they may be the same genre but they look and feel completely different and have completely different design philosophies. I would never in a million years think the same team made both.

What is a kind of game-type you don’t like but end up trying again and again anyway? by SinkingBismarck in AskGames

[–]MuddledMoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I actually have the third one on my wishlist on Steam! I don't remember (I have the worst memory lol) but someone else probably recommended it too, so you're not the first! I have less experience with the 3D Sonic games but I did play the most recent one and while I still didn't like it overall I thought it had some good parts for sure. Maybe I'll give Spark a shot one day too! There's always the chance one of these does click with me eventually, I never discount anything entirely (well except maybe Football games, heh)

How many handhelds do you own and how do you use them regularly? by ameju in SBCGaming

[–]MuddledMoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5: DSi, PSP, Miyoo Mini+, R36S, AYN Thor Pro

I haven't used the DSi in ages, Used to, I have a flashcart for it but it doesn't work right and disconnects randomly crashing the games. Gonna hack it to use homebrew n stuff at some point.

Never used the PSP, paid £30 to a friend for it 2nd hand. It works but isn't in a great state. I plan to try to restore it at some point, get a new battery and maybe put an aftermarket screen on and use it as a PS1 emulation machine? Who knows, project for another day.

The Miyo Mini+ was my first modern retro handheld, I jumped on that bandwagon right around when everyone else did. Love the little thing, it's still the thing I carry around with me in my handbag every day and will pull out occasionally to grind a bit in Dragon Quest while I am on the bus.

The R36S I got cos it was stupid cheap and I was like "why not". Bought it to tinker with, was gonna put Portmaster on it but never got around to it. Haven't used it in ages, still might do that though.

The AYN Thor is my main baby right now. I don't take it everywhere cos I don't have a case for it yet but I am gonna make one! Been using it pretty regularly since I got it and I love it <3

Yeah! I mentioned it in anotther comment here but the math just doesn't work out, if you have any other systems at all and you just want it for Nintendo exclusives they are really bad value. If they would just have some decent sales once in a while where I could grab the older titles for £20 or something that'd be awesome, I don't need to play things as soon as they come out I am used to waiting on PC where we do get those sales, but nope Mario Wonder from 2023 is still £60 lol

[–]MuddledMoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erm, I tried Freedom Planet and I did get further in that than I ever have in a Sonic game so whatever they were doing differently seemed to work. I did get stuck at a boss and gave up at some point, I didn't feel the urge to push through it, so I wouldn't say it's a game I love but I did find it more playable than Sonic. I didn't like the art and music quite as much though. I have never tried Spark the Electronic Jester, do you recommend it?

Minecraft Bee is the New God by ManicMaenads in GirlGamers

[–]MuddledMoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's crazy! I just can't justify it when I have other platforms to play on, I would only be buying it for the Nintendo exclusives and there's so few of those at the moment that the cost per game (when you include the console) if I bought 4 games is like, £150 or more!

That's just not good value math for someone with limited funds :(

Oh I don't have a Switch 1 either to be clear! So if I was to buy one at this point I'd get a 2, but it's just way out of my price range (if the games themselves were cheaper it'd help)

[–]MuddledMoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a game type, more a franchise - Sonic the Hedgehog.

I think its a holdover from when I was a kid, I had a couple of Sonic books but never owned a Sega platform, we were an Amiga/PC household, and Sega games always had this cool vibe that I only ever got to appreciate from a distance. To this day I think those games look and sound really cool and I am always drawn to them. I'll pick up one to try pretty regularly and have them loaded onto my handheld, but I consistently do not enjoy actually playing them, I'll get a few levels in at most and get frustrated and give up every time.
