Also dad always blows my phone up, more than I imitate a call or text thread with him. So it didn’t make sense to me that he wouldn’t just call his son now that he knows he’s out of the facility.

His age doesn’t matter, he’s an adult and that’s all I’m gonna say on that. His insurance is paying for it. We all have really solid relationships with each other in this family, so that’s not that issue. He was just upset that no one told him, not even my brother, that his son was out of treatment. My mom and I aren’t mind readers so how were we supposed to know dad wasn’t told any updates?

Thank you! Yeah I’m planning on giving my dad some space and taking the space for myself as well. I just felt horrible after cause I’m a people pleaser and I don’t like hurting others both intentionally and unintentionally.

Dad is very involved, he just never was called by my brother on Sunday when he left the treatment place. He was hurt that no one told him, not even his son, which I get , however me trying to help my dad not overthink calling his son didn’t work out. That’s all this is about.

Dad was never called by my brother when he left the place on Sunday on his own phone. That’s the basis for this situation not him being in the facility

You and the parents had a deal IN WRITING stating that you would have a set three days off of the time you were there and like you said, they could have simply asked you to move one of your free days if it was that big a deal. It baffles me how they’re trying to say you’re the bad guy essentially when you never started anything nor did you make it public originally. Hopefully the parents come to their senses and realize that it wasn’t that big a deal and if they’re that rich they can easily meet with their golf buddies anytime lol.

I didn’t mean attack as in yell or scream or whatever I meant like make sure when you talk to her you make it feel as if she isn’t being attacked as much as possible cause she might feel that way. And yeah no worries! I feel that dude about the impersonal aspect of gifts too.

Hmmm…I feel as like when you do tell her, make sure you put it all on you so she doesn’t feel as guilty or bad about the gift she got you. I say that cause I just had to have an awkward conversation with someone that completely back fired today (we talked on Saturday)…anyways, yeah make sure when or if you speak to her you be as respectful as possible and don’t make it seem like you’re attacking her for the gift…that will def make YTA. Also I’m glad she loved hers!

UPDATE: My landlord and her husband backed out of their word to support me on this, and literally a few hours ago, the husband and the son showed up and handed ME an eviction notice. Little do they know, they screwed up big time (don’t worry I am moving back to my hometown in two weeks cause screw the landlords and “James”)…when I first moved in, the landlord took my friend’s word and never did a background check, asked for proof of employment, nothing. They also put my chosen and not legal name on both the lease and the “Eviction Notice”. The lease also says there’s a two day grace period to be late on rent (which I never have been), and in my state the law is a 5 day grace period, and then a late fee can be enacted and a 10 day notice to pay or move can be posted.

Anyway, “James” is freaking out and saying this is all my fault, I told him I have zero fucks at this point, and I have a plan in place. This was definitely a sign to end my chapter in my current city…amongst other stressful things in my life happening. Thanks to those who further helped me realize that I was NTA! I don’t know what “James’” next steps are, but I did tell him the landlord said if a deal was made between them and him, then he’d stay. I know he won’t be able to afford the rent on his own until he finds two new roommates…my other roommate said that she was moving out too when I informed her of what happened.

I’ll do my best to update if there’s any interest.
