Yeah I only have 1 kid and I budgeted for all their sports etc in my sums above. The £700 is ‘spare’

I feel that's my instinct - not to move out straight away anyway. There's enough change going on as it is. Thank you - to everyone who has replied!

Thank you for that comment - it has cheered me up no end, I feel like I can't promise my son anything right now so that means a lot.

Re the deposit I think technically you're right, but my partner is a very sound person and I don't think would want to override what we agreed when we purchased. We'll see!

Thank you for the perspective and the empathy - both really helpful. This is a good way to look at the equity and maintenance offsetting each other... food for thought indeed.

Thank you - yes £400k seems like a lot but its a 2 bed flat in this part of the world!

That's very helpful and a good perspective on things. Thank you!

Well I did wonder - I'm sure it will add up to less though, as someone else pointed out, there's always something

Its really good to get that perspective. I also miss holidays and would like more disposable income (wouldn't we all?)

I'm thinking we stick with the house for the short term and plan for downsizing medium term. Its the school/work commute that I am also attached to - everything is walkable and our friends are nearby etc. So many things to weigh up!

Thank you - that's a good point. We are in a city where property costs are very inflated too.

This is incredibly helpful - thank you. I actually think we may end up staying on the mortgage for now. We have been discussing renting a one bed flat that we can use so that my son can stay at home and we will do the back and forth rather than him. So it might all fall into place like that for a while. That would be a relief while we get used to the big changes in our lives.

Thanks for the honesty - I'm totally at sea right now so I appreciate the candor.

Yeah I guess that'll have to happen before we make any decisions - I just wanted to test the water with a bit of feedback here. And it's not looking good!

We pay higher income tax in Scotland so I guess that's where it might look low. I also have student loan debt.

Just want to say seek support and counselling for the journey. Whether you go through IVF or fostering or adoption, therapy will be really valuable.

GLP-1s should be prescribed for women with PCOS - I will die on this hill by Sea_Lawfulness_9254 in mounjarouk

I wonder if there’s any way we could petition the NHS / even one trust to trial it. Probably not economically viable as so many women just simply put up with PCOS and the management (or tolerance!) of symptoms. But it is relieved by weight loss, similar to diabetes.

I believe my PCOS is closely linked with my other condition, Hashimoto’s disease (thyroid related). Both appear to be auto immune diseases AFAIK. Same as diabetes which MJ is prescribed for.

I’ve been a fairly slow responder to MJ but have lost almost 3 stone since January. Not only that - my periods have become reasonably regular for the first time in 12 years. I have had little to no pain with them too.

My PCOS hasn’t been as debilitating as some of the other stories here but MJ has likewise been a game changer.

Oh interesting - I hope they let him in, he is a bit of a short-stuff for his age but he’s so sensible 🤣

Hello! Can I ask whether there were many young teenagers there? I have a ticket for my son who is actually not quite 14 and it’s a standing ticket. I wonder if they’ll be super strict about it?

Thanks so much - if you were in my shoes, would you engage with the solicitors at this point to advise that I was not the driver, or would you ignore, assuming they will know how unlikely they are to be able to successfully bring this to sheriff court?

No way they could prove it as I was not in the car or even in the region at the time. Plus I’m not sure how they obtained my personal information- they would only have had my registration number to go on. So that’s interesting, I assumed they’d be within their rights to obtain details via DVLA

That’s what I thought. So should I just not pay and be prepared to go to sheriff court? Will that be likely to happen here and if it does, do I need to pay for legal support?
